My DH (USC) has been living with me in Canada since '07 and one of the ONLY stores he likes better in Canada is Bulk Barn! We are certainly going to miss it when we move. I will mostly miss buying really small packets of spices for cheap (why buy a whole jar when you can have fresh spices all the time?!?).

Started LDR with hubby July '04, married Nov '06

He moved and became permanent resident of Canada Nov '07

Now, we want to move back to his hometown in Illinois!

Filed DCF for IR1 Visa

Last time I visited Canada I bought a bag of Smarties to show people here what they were & that they're not like M&Ms.

Also bought some ketchup chips to show them those too.

I know here you can find Aero chocolate in the British aisle, but its not the same as the Canadian Aero, I've tried!

Going back to Canada this weekend & I'll be stocking up on a bunch of stuff. I've been craving Jos.Louis lately!!

I've seen Aero bars in the international aisle at the Giant where my fiance does his grocery shopping. The packaging was a bit different but I was like, International? Really? It was right beside the Mars bars!

And OMG Vachon cakes! I LOVE Au Caramels and the "Billot Logs" as my friend used to call them (Jelly Logs). Oh I will miss Vachon...

We can get our Smarties at the local grocery store in the International aisle. But they cost an arm and a leg. I find M&M's way too crunchy. Plus the chocolate sucks. lol

Do you mean at Giant? Those Smarties are about as old as Adam...not the freshest I've discovered.

I eat my smarties like this - pour the whole box out on my desk (or whereever its convenient). Sort the colours and then eat the colour piles with the most first. That or I go in rounds - 1 of each colour. Weird I know

I like to make little designs with my smarties, then eat them from there. Like I will make a pyramid with each row a differnt color, then eat all the 'spare' ones first, then I will eat a few rows of the pyramid, and make a different design!! I guess I never listened to my mom when she said not to play with my food!!

I am hitting up the bulk barn when I go home. I really miss it as well...I used to do a fair bit of cake decorating when I was in Canada, and the stuff there was a lot cheaper than at michaels. I want to bring back some passion flakies for Simon to try. We were grocery shopping the other day and he wanted some snacky things to keep in his locker at work for break time, and I got thinking about the passion flakies. I am also going to stock up on Milupa baby cereal. Everyone has always raved about how their LO's loved it so much and right now E is not totally sold on gerber of beechnut cereals (she does LOVE carrots tho!!).

Simon is british (and a chocoholic) so I usually bring him back some Mars bars (his fav), smarties (my fav) and some cadbury bars as well. I have tired some of the cadbury bars here, and they taste nasty. I love me a burnt almond every now and then!!

I just recently learned a few months ago that Smarties are not the same as Smarties back home.. :(

I was sitting in the livingroom at my mother-in-laws home, she says to me..Do you want a Smartie. I swear my face was glowing so much to have some Smarties..lol..but wouldn't you know she throws a pack of rockets at me...I was like..This isn't Smarties...LOL..I was so disappointed and was craving for Smarties after that.

My Cuz in law ended up finding some for me tho, but they aren't the same, they have flavor to the shells, Kinda like skiddles with chocolate. After I told my family about it back home, they have been sending shipments of it to me..lol Everytime someone comes to visit, I look forward to some smarties

I love picking out one of each colour to make a flower..and eat them either one by one or all together last..hehe..I have no idea why...it's just habbit!

Mmmmmm, Passion Flakies. I used to be addicted to those.

I have never heard of any of those things ..lol

I wonder if they're only popular on the Eastern side of the country because we're closer to Quebec?

I will mostly miss buying really small packets of spices for cheap (why buy a whole jar when you can have fresh spices all the time?!?).

Exactly! I hate buying the pre-packaged stuff when you only need a little.... or a lot. lol

Do you mean at Giant? Those Smarties are about as old as Adam...not the freshest I've discovered.

I shop at the Wegmans in Gainesville. Hate Giant. lol. Have you tried the Seafood Bar at that Wegmans? OMG. It's superb. I need a friend to go and eat oysters on the half shell with white wine there. Tell me you love oysters!!!!!

I have tired some of the cadbury bars here, and they taste nasty.

I made the mistake of trying those too! They're made by Hershey. :dead:

You guys are hilarious with your sorting and designs. I remember doing that as a kid but had totally forgotten about it!!

I can't say that Smarties was my chocolate of choice when I lived in Canada. I liked them, but I was more partial to a Crunchie or Oh Henry, haha. I've recently cut out eating junk food, but I'm sure I'll indulge a bit when I'm in Canada next week!

I'm really excited to stock on Catalina salad dressing and Clover Leaf tuna! I can't stand US tuna. It's so mushy!

I find the Wegmans Solid White Albacore Tuna in Water is just like the kind I bought in Canada. Plus it's only .99 cents a tin!! Gotta love that.

We don't have a Wegman's near us, but I will keep trying various brands. I'll have to stop importing tuna eventually, haha!
