Hello, I've been reading threads and some people are saying they have their packet three ready to send as soon as they receive confirmation that the petition is on the way to the embassy.

What exactly needs to be ready? I have an NVC case number and my petition is on its way to London, so can I send something now to speed everything up? I'm just filling out the DS-156 online, and i was pretty sure i had to send back the DS-230 straight away and now I'm just a little confused.

In Packet 3, you will receive a DSL-1076 (checklist, not online), DS156, DS157, DS156K, and DS230. I had sent David all of these blank forms, PLUS the examples from VJ so he could complete them and have them ready once his packet arrived. So when packet 3 did come, he sent all of the forms back at once. He also had to send another passport-style photo of himself.

The rest of the forms... my I-134/supporting docs (which I also sent ahead to David), his police certificates (hopefully you've already requested yours... they take 40 days to receive from the UK), copies of his passport pages, etc. are all to be brought to the interview. He still needs to have his medical (needs 3 pics for that).

When I mailed him the forms, my notarized I-134, & supporting financial docs, I also sent an updated/notarized letter of intent, the originals (plus one copy each) of my NOA1, RFE/response, and NOA2. When he was here, he took a copy of the I-129F and all of its supporting docs with him. I also sent an updated record of my phone card activity to show evidence of an ongoing relationship... he had lots of other 'stuff' to prove that too: a few emails, his phone records, receipts, etc. from his trip last May, and so forth.

So you can be doing a LOT ahead of time to be able to turn around packet 3 very quickly.

Check here for more info specifically for the UK:

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Thanks so much for your help, yes I have requested the police thing already, thankfully I found this site just after I was approved and worked that one out! I've found the DS156 online to get the barcode, is this the only one that needs a barcode? If so, then I now have all the forms ready and waiting... Is it best to just send via recorded delivery or do you think something more drastic is appropriate?

Not sure about the bar codes... David transcribed all of his 'practice forms' to the forms that he was actually sent (he doesn't have a printer)... you can wait and see what your forms look like... a good idea anyway, just to compare and ensure that you did, indeed, print the right versions of the forms (never hurts to triple check!).

I would sent it with whatever method confirms receipt to you... and I've heard that the UK Embassy is very responsive to email. Devilette's fiance just received his interview appt... might want to pm her for any specific UK info...

Best wishes!

I hand wrote all my forms in pack 3 and I have had no problems. The form online i think you have to wait till you get your case numbe im not sure as it generates a code so it is easy for the embassy to scan your form and it will automatically be assigned to your case.

Come join us on the ongoing thread which has a list of ppl waiting for interviews at london on the following link:
