they need us to bring back the citizenship/us passport of my son (no appt date, anytime). i guess that's about what we expected, not instant good news but not so bad. we can't expect them to issue a pink/visa before the child's CRBA case. obviously we'd feel alot better and more relieved with pink in hand and date of visa issue known.

trip report:

we got there around 7:15am and there were about 7-8 other people in line. old people and people with babies were in the priority line. we were inside the consulate by 7:20am. we were given number 1 (5001) and was called first to submit the pre-paperworks (7:30am). he didn't ask for anything specific (like tax year/transcript), just took everything i had. there were a total of 15 windows. i think most people came after 8 as the crowd gathered in the hall. we were also first to be interviewed at around 9am by a mid/late 30s american male. some questions that were asked while i had to hold my son as he was crying his eyes out and throwing up on me.

*what is your birthdate?

*describe your fiance...

*who does he live with?

*where does he work?

*how long has he worked there?

*what are your plans for the wedding?

*is the baby your fiance carrying his?

*have you filed a case for the baby?

*where did you two first meet? was it by chance?

*what was the purpose of his trip?

my fiancee commented the questions were pretty easy, she expected harder ones from when i was grilling her. she also said she felt more relaxed with them asking the questions, whereas with me i would press and my tone would intimidate her and she felt more pressure.

yes guys the CRBA was done may 10th, we're just waiting for the passport to come in (hoping real soon).

i didn't want him to go under K-2 with my fiancee, found out about CRBA late.

It should be pretty soon. My friend had his CRBA appointment in the middle of April, and the passport was ready a couple of weeks ago - about three weeks total, if I remember correctly.

after 2 grueling months of waiting...my son's passport/crba is in (fiance) hand...and also the pink slip as of 15 minutes ago. paperworks from blue to pink took 2 hours. just like the interview she was first in line and first to leave since she had a little baby.

many thanks go out to jim(vaphuong), scott(thuy), luckytxn, anh map, and dau que...(yes even DQ for keeping it real and grounded). your help was invaluable and truly priceless...very much appreciated, more than you guys know. i've learned so much and this is only the first part! i'll continue to hang around and offer what little i know to those that'll come after...if nothing else maybe some viet-usa pov as i'm fluent and immersed in both cultures.

congrats!!

To quotes a movie, “So how does it happen, great love? Nobody knows... but what I can tell you is that it happens in the blink of an eye. One Moment you're enjoying your life, and the next you're wondering how you ever lived without them.” I felt I found something with Kieu that is rare in life... true love.
