What am I to take from this video? That these Palestinians are throwing rocks in the wrong direction? Garbage cans make horrible shields? I roll my eyes when I see videos like this because it gives you very little insight to what going on over there but kids will take videos like this and run with it.

For some reason I had the idea that you were in this thread because you kept up with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In fact, the video is about the current protests and BDS movement (both in Palestine and outside) against Israel’s illegal occupation, illegal settlement enterprise, and illegal annexation wall.

The people in the video you see “throwing rocks in the wrong direction” and using garbage cans for shields are actually unarmed Palestinian civilians on Palestinian land, who must use whatever is at hand to resist Israeli soldiers. You know, those heavily armed foreign occupation troops which have invaded their land as part of a systematic, state-condoned and -orchestrated process to enable and sustain the illegal annexation of their property.... ????? These foreign occupation troops are attacking these particular Palestinians in an attempt to suppress their right to resist the occupation with public protests.

But if you need a detailed history of the conflict, I can direct you to lots of reference materials.

I was waiting for a couple of lines in the lyrics to that video that oddly weren't there:

If we fire anti-tank weapons at school buses, we don't care

And

If mommy straps on a bomb vest and kills other mommies, we don't care...

Otherwise great song and video, kumbaya!

It's a shame that those that rally blindly behind Israel won't even consider there might be another (human) side involved in the conflict.

I think the US media can be held greatly responsible for the lack of scope.

I don't recall much US media coverage cast from or in favor of, the Palestinian perspective.

No anti-tank weapons or mommies with bomb vests at any of these protests. These are Palestinian civilians - men, women and children - with flags, marching on their own land, in their own villages and towns, singing songs and chants of resistance - and they are joined in these protests by many Israelis and other internationals. In return for peaceful protest, they are teargassed, shot at, beaten, arrested, detained, maimed, even killed by the Israeli soldiers who are illegally occupying their land.

These sorts of things are what has given such a push to the BDS movement - the government of Israel's continued violent oppression of Palestinians' basic human rights, including the right to public protest.

How seriously are we supposed to take a people who vote for a terrorist group (Hamas) every chance they get?

Why would they need terrorists to take up their cause, unless they were being dominated by a superior force? Should all the French have presented their backsides to the Germans willingly, or do you think it was okay for resistance forces to terrorize their occupiers?

The French Resistance never made the elimination of Germany as a nation their goal.

That is the difference between people resisting occupation and maniacal nutjobs hellbent on destruction.

The French wanted the Germans to leave. How is that any different than what the Palestinians want?

Hamas wants there to not be an Israel at all. They want to drive all the Jews out of the entire region. And the Palestinian people keep voting for those maniacal nutjobs every chance they get. People like that can't be a partner in good faith negotiations.

Suppose you had friends come to visit. Those friends invited more friends, and those friends invited even more people, until you were forced to leave your own house. Would it be wrong to try and get your house back?

If you are bringing into question Israel's right to exist, I'm not sure there is much else to discuss here.
