Blue Slip

My fiance got a blue slip on her interview a few days ago. The interview questions were easy and the CO was nice. They asked:

1) When did you first meet?

2) Where did you first meet?

3) How many times did he come to VN?

4) What school does he study in?

5) What is his job title?

6) Do you have relatives in the USA?

Easy questions. They gave the blue slip requesting a timeline and 10 year residency from the petitioner. They requested a 10 year residency from the beneficiary. We have no big red flags. No divorce, no children, no relatives in the USA and no arranged meetings from uncles or family.

I can prepare all these documents easily. The blue slip says "Your appointment date for resubmission of requested documents is June 20, 2011 from 13:00 to 14:00.

Do you guys think I would be able to submit the documents BEFORE June 20? If so, how soon would I be able to do it or should I just do it on June 20?

Sent the I-129F petition to USCIS on Aug 20, 2010

I-129F Approved!!! Feb 7, 2011

Returned P3 to Consulate Mar 7, 2011

Why not do it before? We received blue also for missing police report but there was no date on the blue slip. They said to bring back any time. Hope you can also.

I know what you mean. The only reason i ask is because my fiance told me on the blue paper it says:

"Your appointment date for resubmission of requested documents is June 20, 2011 from 13:00 to 14:00"

I will ask her again if it also says that we can submit the documents at any time, or only the date June 20.

Does anybody else have any experience with this?

They have an appointment when the CO will be there on that specific date.. She can go any day between now and then but there is no sure way to know if the CO will be there or have time to address your case... Some folks have gone early and gotten pink.. others have gone and gotten another blue... have her make a copy of the blue slip.. use that copy to go inside if she decides to go early... then if there was not a pink issued on that date, she still has the original blue slip to be able to get into the consulate again on the date the appointment is set for to try to resolve anything with the CO...

Ok now I undertand. My fiance will try to submit the documents 2 weeks before the deadline. If they do not accept them, I will have her go on the appointment date. Thanks :)

My fiance received a blue slip requesting exactly the same info. She went once to turn it in early and they said she had to come back on the date specified. Later, she tried again to return it earlier than the date specified and they accept it. I recommend to go ahead and try.

So, different day=different answer or different person=different answer?

Good point. I want to know as well.

Maybe I can have my fiance try a few times before the due date to see if they will take it.

Many have gone in early and submitted and were fine. I have never heard before anyone having a hard time going in early. My babe went early and got a pink but this was about 2 and a half years ago. I suggest to get that additional info in as soon as possible.

I am in sorrow for the blue slip and I will say a prayer for y'all.

We are also doing the 10 year residency paperwork. My fiance has lived with her parents in the same house since she was born until today. The blue says to list the last 10 years but should I put that she lived at same address since she was born, or only for the last 10 years for example 2001 to 2011?

The same for me because my previous address was for more then 10 years.

I didn't have to do the Ten year residency but did help someone else and his babe also lived her whole life in one place. He put the date of her birth to present and was fine. No harm in going further back.

Please keep us updated and also ask us anything. We are all hoping for the pink. I am also sure that I am not the only one that will say a prayer.

Argh! I hate stupid question. My fiance made her 10 year residency paper and she write it in English. Does her 10 year residency paper have to be notarized by an American agency/organization or can she bring it to a local notary in her town?

For mine, I will notarize it at my bank

For my fiance 10 year residency, she wrote it in Vietnamese, translate to English, then notarized. She did it in her hometown Ben Tre(countryside). This was a bit more work but I felt better that we did it this way. For the blue slip submission, my fiance came 1 week before the submission date and asked if she could turn it in early, and they said yes. After waiting about 15 mins, they issued pink. The blue slip is just a stall tactic and so can the visa pickup time.
