Why should anyone give a ####? Its a bloody cargo ship, not the USS Enterprise. Stop obsessing over every piece of ####### that happens to drop out the ####### of any and every third rate hack who writes about anything tenuously linked to immigration. It makes you look effing crazy!

Not as crazy as your rants every time I rattle your cage. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

You wish Peejay. You wish.

Yet here you are, swallowing down the #######, without question, from yet another poorly written, poorly argued op-ed piece.

Actually wait, do you notice how most of the capital ships are named after republicans? The only democrat I can think of is the USS Truman.

Extreme ####### envy is at work there i'd say

Thousand of Americans have been in the US Navy and don't have the honor of having a ship named after them. And it wasn't his service record in the Navy that is the reason for it. He is the darling of the Left and the Obama administration has been and is pandering the Hispanic vote along with the union vote.

Certainly these are not valid reasons to name the ship after Chavez. There most certainly is no shortage of more worthy persons to bestow this honor on.

Let me know when those other thousands move on to campaign for farm worker rights, etcetera. Call it unionization if you will, but there is perhaps a great deal more than your partisan lenses will allow you to see. All this from a Navy vet? Sounds good. You can call it Hispanic vote pandering all you like (unsurprisingly), but others may call it an honor bestowed upon a vet that went on to do bigger and better things.

AS for your criteria of worth for naming selection- should it bother you that much, take your Naval experience and ask to be placed on one of the ship naming committees.

Why don't we start naming Navy ships after rock stars? Jim Morrison's dad was a Navy admiral. Or maybe just name a Navy ship after Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones? The stupidity and inappropriateness can go on forever.

Fact is that there are any number of Naval heroes that would be ions more appropriate than Chavez. But we all know the real reasons the Obama administration chose Chavez. Vote pandering to a demographic. Pretty lame.

Slice it and dice it any way you want to...I still call bullshit on this one.

When Mick Jagger and Jim Morrison contribute to the societies beyond making music, by all means enter them into the candidate list.

They may be more appropriate. And they may not be. One ship, one name. Call BS all you want, you'll still be ranting more than you probably should

How much ranting am I allowed?

There is the USS Roosevelt and the USS Kennedy that come right to mind, and Carter has a sub named after him, for obvious reasons

Why should anyone care about what a ship is called?

They could call it the USS Kiss My ####, for all the difference it makes.
