Make racism illegal, yes that also applies to reverse racism...
I like what America 'once' stood for. That is, the pre 60's era.

Care to reconcile those two statements? In the pre-60's era America stood pretty solidly for racism...

Obviously genius I was not talking about the racism aspect, which by the way existed in most nations and not only against BLACK Americans..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Sorry, Infy, the racism is inextricable from that period. Things would not have worked the way they did without it.

Reminds me of the latter days of Strom Thurmond...

Well, genius, you can't divorce the blatant racism that existed in the USofA in the pre-60's era from said era. What about your tax funded universal healthcare pitch in relation to the pre-60's era? Did they have tax funded universal healthcare in the pre-60's in the US? I didn't think so.

So, what, exactly, of the pre-60's era do you like so much? The cars they drove back then?

for someone who dislikes the "liberal" label, you're awfully quick to trot out the labels too. and that second paragraph is a riot coming from you

As one of the people who seems to rely almost exclusively on labels when it comes to discussing these topics - I wonder why you find it surprising when others adopt the same behaviour.

ah so if you can't beat them, join them

Right....the humane treatment of prisoners (unless we needed to test LSD, or deliberately inflict them with high doses of radiation)

Or....maybe it WAS the racism thing. Separate but equal worked, right? And if we wanted to find out neat things about syphillis we could get a bunch of negro soldiers and infect them....better than rats.

Ah, I think I've got it.....it must be the domination and subjugation of women. I recall you're quite fond of that aspect. Keep them in their place, not possibly ruining the White House with silly ideas like universal healthcare. I mean really.....what kind of lunatic would support that?

Yep, the good ol' pre-60's. Where a white man person could really get things done.

And, just for reference.....geographically our closest ally is Canada. Politically, militarily, and economically it's probably Britain. Australia is a useful staging area. I'd get the aboriginal opinion before I started claiming it was Utopia, though.

Indeed - is this where we point out that most "golden ages" are a myth...?

Yet a republican (and the people he put in their positions) lies to the American to start a unfounded (not based on true and actual facts) war (which incedentially is when the price of gas FIRST went up!) everyone seems to look the other way, scream LIBERAL or STFU...

One of the only reasons the price of gas has gone up is we can not refine it fast enough..(that and big oil wanting more money) there is way more then enough oil out there to make our gas.. just can't make it quick enough .. therefore demand goes up.. and price does too .. ;) There is much more the the price of gas then the war..

The dollar lost some value .. much of the oil in the world is purchased with the US dollar.. one of our stipulations to Saudi a while back .. so when talking about gas .. know the facts.. war didn't make the price go up. its not cut and dry .. that and we purchase 40% of our oil from venezuela anyways..

:ot2:

Sorry, biggest single supplier of US oil is Canada (2.144 million barrels).
