Revealed: how oil giant influenced Bush

White House sought advice from Exxon on Kyoto stance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlhhMVKFl4g

Why would someone sign onto a job killing propaganda machine like AGW?

Steven, you can post your hack ####### all you want, you can show places where the climate is warming, places it's cooling, etc. but you do not have a SHRED of concrete evidence that points to "human beings" as the cause of any of it. You don't have historical data, you don't have a secure test environment, you have nothing other than a "guess." A guess that is answered by 'tax, tax, tax' to fix the problem.

Charles and the OP can't see the forest for the trees. The Bush Administration had a clear objective regarding energy policy - increasing supply. Energy conservation was not a concern of theirs and not only that, they believed that conservation would have no real impact on price. Well, they were partially right because oil consumption is down, but the price spikes have no correlation between supply and demand, which leads many to believe that speculation is what is causing the oil price to remain higher than it should. The Obama Administration could reign in on the speculators, but so far, they seem unwilling to do so. What it shows is that Big Oil and Big Money talk in Washington, while little guy at the pump gets up the #######.

Fuel hasn't reached the peaks of 2008 and won't this year. Thats what one of the poster's above are getting at.

I think the difference between 2008 and now is that there were market boogymen this spring where none really existed in 2008.

Yep. And the focus of those reacting to high gas prices prior to 2008 was on the Bush Administration's energy policy, which pretty much ignored conservation as a viable tool in effecting price.

Uhm, no. Question is where you've been back three years ago. Certainly not at the pump filling up. Gas was $3.81 average around here in May 2008. They've hit that same high (give or take a few pennies) a week or two ago and have since gone down some. No way have we peaked at 2.80-something back in 2008. We were clearly very close to $4.00 a gallon then and this time around.

Here prices were short of 2008 records by about 25-40 cents.

Or maybe because you're suffering from some form of amnesia:

2008: The average gas price in the Kansas City area is $3.83, according to the American Automobile Association fuel gauge report.

2011: For Kansas, the average price was $3.728, about 95 cents more than a year ago.

Last time I checked,$3.73 < $3.83.

It just feels worse for a Republican when a Democrat is in the White House. ;)
