AOS Interview Experience

We had our AOS interview in Los Angeles today, and I thought I'd like to share our experience. (I'm the immigrant, and my husband is the USC.)

Our interview appointment was at 11:05, and we arrived at the building around 10:10. We went through the security at the entrance and went up to the room indicated on our interview letter. It was a LARGE room with many people waiting. We gave our interview letter to the person at check-in. People were called in every few minutes, and some people came out pretty quickly, 15 minutes or so.

My name was called around 10:55. Our interviewer was a woman around 30, very pleasant. When we got to her office, she asked us to raise our hands and asked if we'd tell the truth, etc. Once we sat down, she asked for our IDs and opened our file. She first asked my name, address, b-day, the last date of entry to the US, arrest record, phone # etc... as she was going over my application. She seemed to be checking the information on the application was correct. Then she asked to see any documents to prove our relationship. We gave her our joint bank account, utility bills, and insurance (life, medical, dental, car, rental). (As we were pulling out the documents, she kept flipping our application. Seemed like she was checking to see if everything was in file.) She kept copies. Then she asked if we had pictures. So we pulled out our album with 20+ pictures from our trips together and wedding.

She asked a couple of questions about the pictures, how and when we met, and if my husband has joint custody of his children from his previous marriage. (She also asked my husband if he had pictures of his kids and added that had nothing to do with my AOS.)

Then she stamped "Approved" on our AOS application and said we were approved! I'll received my green card in 2 weeks by mail. She gave us some paper explaining lifting conditions after 2 years and asked if we had any questions.

My middle name on my AP was spelled incorrectly (off by one letter), so I asked if my name on the green card would be correct. She said my name on the application is spelled correctly and that green card won't have my middled name spelled completely so it shouldn't be a problem.

The whole interview took about 15 minutes. I just want to say thank you for the VJ and everyone in the VJ community. It made our process a lot easier!
