We are all in the same situation and we have to understand that this is a part of the process you will feel alone and isolated at times and only your husband and his family will be the only ppl you see. I advise that you get to meet some other ppl and intergrate with them and this will allow you to have someone to talk to in times like these. This will soon pass think positive and dont let this make you feel too sad becuz it can then cause you to feel more alone than loved. ...

I know how you feel. We live with his parents right now, and sometimes when we are all downstairs and I see them all laughing and talking to each other it makes me so sad. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice to me and I know they are trying to make me feel welcome, but it's just not the same. Not to mention when we have arguments, I have nowhere to run, I have no car, no friends.. I just have to go to our room and try to control my own emotions. It's so hard, but what can we do right? I am still waiting for my green card so I can't work or study yet, and we are moving out this August finally.. So for now I just have to be strong. ^.^ Today I just fixed my sister-in-law's hair for her prom, and she looked so pretty. They were all taking family pictures and I still feel awkward at times.. I am very comfortable with my husband but I would reallllly love for us to have our own place already.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

First I am sorry that you had an argument with your husband. 2nd I can not imagine how you feel about not being able to go to your parents and because of the lack of friends, however, all couples have arguments from time to time. Additionally, you have joined this community, your VJ community and here are people for you to talk to. Now, aside from that, have you tried looking into different community groups, churches (or whatever is your religion), community colleges or other resources that might provide you with the opportunity to meet and make some friends? Also, have you discussed with your husband the fact that you do feel so alone and maybe see if he would be interested in taking some classes with you or joining some local groups that maybe together you could make some friends as a couple which in turn would help you to make some friends from an individual standpoint/

You have to remember, although it is difficult, most difficult, you did make the choice to come here to be with your husband. Now, both of you together need to work on helping you overcome the feelings you have about being home sick and what you can do to help remedy this situation.

Anyway, I hope my suggestions have helped and I wish you the best of luck and I am sorry you are having a difficult day! I hope tomorrow will be a better one!
