Well...followed all the rules here on VJ about how to get your SSN# after POE with a fiance visa and we continue to have pitfalls. Vinko and I went to get his SSN# yesterday in my hometown SSA office and they wouldn't give it to him because they are claiming that his documents do not match in the SAVE database. It is not an issue of him not being here in the States long enough, he has been here for working on four weeks. So they are in the process of "verifying" his documents, which can be a four week process. WHY US!!!!!! Nobody else I know of here on VJ has had this problem, it was "go get your number and your card is in the mail 10 days later" Maybe it is because I live in a "podunk" town...maybe it is because we are the "lucky" ones to be audited...who knows??? But every time I think about it I am pissed!!! Not one thing about our process has been streamlined!!! There is always SOMETHING!!!! :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

I-751 Removal of Conditions sent - 9/7/13

NOA1 received - 9/17/13

Biometrics appointment - 10/8/13

Removal of Conditions approved - 12/16/13

Lisa,

Do not get overly stressed about this! We went to the Social Security office and my fiance's info had not yet been cleared either. We were told that it could be from days to months (even years the lady said) to get the clearance. My fiance received his Social Security card in the mail about a couple of weeks later (if that). Hopefully, Vinko's file will also be cleared soon.

Best wishes! (F)

Mine took exactly 4 weeks so I guess it took them a long time to verify or whatever. Don't worry, you're not the only one, it will come!

Thanks!!! I did need to hear that, it just seems like from most people's feedback on here that the darn thing is so easy to get and nothing we've done for our process has been easy!!! Thanks for relieving my tensions!

We had th esame issue. Even though his I94 was correct the database had 2 i's where a w should be. To correct it they can send in photo copies of your identity papers with a request to validate or you can return to a immigration inspection office ( usually associated with a major airport ) and ask that they revalidate their own papers there. Going to the inspection point is quicker but if you aren't close to an airport ( doesn't have to be the original POE ) may not be possible for everyone. It takes about a month to get things fixed.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Timeline

My fiance entered on a K1 visa on May 4, and we went to the Social Security office to apply for a card on May 16th. We were told then that we would receive the card within 3 weeks, and also received a confirmation letter saying the same thing. It still hasn't arrived, so I called today and was told that 3 weeks is what they tell everyone and that is the standard time for a US citizen to receive a new card. She said for people coming from other countries it is usually 6-8 weeks (if that's the case then I don't know why they didn't just tell us that when we applied at the office). So still we wait....sounds like it might be the same issue with yours?

We went to the SSN office seven days after POE. Everything was just fine, until I received a call 6 days later to come back to the office because our case worker forgot to take copies of my I 94 and the marriage certificate and immigration therefore rejected my papers. So we immediately went back to the office and had to wait 3 (!) hours to just have those two copies taken.

I called back 4 days later and they were still waiting on a response from Immigration.

Very annoying!

Good luck to everybody, hope we receive our SSNs soon, it definitely is the key to many things here in the States...
