Everything but the oath can be done before the 3 year mark.

Just to clarify. If my interview is before the 3 year mark, it is still ok and I don't need to reschedule?

Hello - I will be filing based on 5 years and I would like to file at the earliest. However, I am not sure when I should file. My Green Card was issued on 11/05/2007. Should I apply in August or September 2012?? seems like my maths sucks as I cannot count the 4 years and 9 months. Thanks in advance.

It basically means that you had to be present in the country for 18 out of 36 months (if applying based on 3 years), while absent for no more than six months at a time. Being absent last month for three weeks does not matter, unless it puts your total of all trips outside of the country to more than 50% (which really means you were living in some other country more than you did in the US).

Better yet, take a look at the USCIS's Eligibility Worksheet for more details.

Hi

I came to US on fiancee visa. My son came along too. Both of us got the GC with conditions and now the conditions have been removed.

As spouse of US citizen, I am allowed to begin applying for citizenship 3 yrs - 90 days after receiving the first GC.

When can my son apply for citizenship? He is now 19+ years old. He was 16+ years old when he received his first GC along with mine.

Thanks!

If he is above the age 18, than he will have to wait 5 years to apply. Because he is not married and he was not married to the same US citizen for 3 years. Now you can apply for US citizenship 90 days before the 3rd anniversary of your permanent residence but he will have to wait another to years. Total 5 years.
