Timeline

A little less than 4.5 years of dating before getting engaged. We met October 2005 when I was studying abroad in Ireland for a semester. Started dating immediately. Then I went home in December and he came over three times in the next 18 months, each for a week's visit. In September 2007 I went back to Ireland to do a masters program (and to be with him). I left Ireland in May 2009 because of the ####### economy. I visited him for a week in Dec/Jan 2009/2010 and we decided to get engaged a few days after I returned home. Filed the I-129F in March 2010. He came for another visit that July, and then moved over on the K-1 in Sept. Married Oct 1st 2010!

I'm the USC petitioner.

Well, I know many would be apprehensive. But my fiance and I knew right away. We fell in love so quickly we talked about marriage fairly soon. We met online, and 4 months later I visited him in Turkey. He was so nervous the day of the proposal.Changes clothes several times. Had sweaty palms. He took me to a bar his friend owns. We had friends and family there. He asked me to marry him and I was soooo excited and sooo happy. We had an engagement party at the same spot 6 months later. It was a beautiful day.

We have had to wait Since September to Start the K-1 process. So a year from meeting. Judgement should not be an issue. They want to see proof of real relationship. Emails, calls, and basically romance. If you love each other, they should see it.

I know the USCIS is interested in that one little detail when reviewing our applications  I know they have their reasons for checking. I know some people believe in love at first sight and others like the wait it out a little. I'm actually the former of the two. Hopefully USCIS doesn't see that as their own red flag *crossing fingers* Anywho, where do guys fall under? Whether you're already married or just received your NOA1, what was your dating time before the marriage proposal?

Just a friendly chat thread :D

This is actually a discussion? No 2 relationships are the same and what works for one person, might not work for the next. I do not think length of dating plays a very big role in approvals. Sure they want some proof that a relationship exist but if they looked at alot of relationships in a time together sense, half of the people on here would be denied--including myself. I knew my fiance less than a year. Who has the right to say when we have dated long enough to marry? I knew my ex-wife for years before getting married. You figure it out, when you do please let us all know.

It is so nice to read the love stories that every one has.., sometimes our friends area little hard with us, saying that is to fast to know that you want to get married to person you just have seeing 3 times. If they only knew that there is a lot of couples now a days that met online and then everything goes from there. I met Justin online while we were cancelling our accounts on speedate.com hahhahahahah lame i know!! never used until i met him, while we were figuring out how to cancel the account, data base from the website match each other and we both had an open window. We never say hello like after 3 minutes, Justin was reading my profile and found out that my favorite movie is Sleepless in Seattle, and he was watching that while he was working at his house. Anyways we spend more than 5 hours talking, we ask each others cell phones, i sent him the first text message that day...after that from NOVEMBER 18 2010 to December 19 we decided to start dating and give us a chance to meet, we decided to meet in July this year , but we have change of plans and we met on Denver he invited me to his cousin wedding. So we met for the first time on January 13th 2011 in presence of his mom, sister, grandma, uncle an pets (it was really embarrassing) at the second day he bought promess rings for us, and we decided that we wanted to get married and that we wanted to wait one year an half to do so. I flew back to Mexico , he flew back to Wisconsin, i invited him to come to Mexico and meet my family and also i invited him to my cousin wedding. He came to Mexico 8th March 2011, and on march 10th he gave me my engagement ring and ask my parents for my hand.

Is as easy as that to know that you really love this person, just like some one else here said, it feels like you were waiting for that special person. You just know from inside to the outside that this is the ¨one¨.

i love him for the man he is, and the man he wants to be.

Bahadir and I met in person in Turkey. He knew NO english but 2 months later he was studying so much that he was ready to start talking! But we had instant chemistry. We got engaged 7 months later...We really knew we were for each other. But it was important for us to get to know each other. We were both realistic so we talked everyday...hours a day....now we are coming up on 1 year being engaged and waiting for our visa. I knew he was thinking about marriage about 2 months before he and i were engaged. I am really thankful for how we grew and built a foundation.

We met July 2007 in one silly dating site lol. Chatted for 3 weeks, then he decided to meet me in person August 12, 2007. Got engaged September 01, 2007. Then we filed the Petition October 2007. So lucky we never got any problem from that..

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.

We met at my birthday party in Taiwan in October 2008 (we were both there studying/taking a break from life back home). He was dragged there very reluctantly by a mutual friend, who now takes credit for our entire relationship, hehe. Chris (my husband) was actually involved with someone at the time, but it wasn't very serious, and he had sort of earmarked me as someone he would like to get to know. A few weeks later, the relationship had ended, and we became a couple very soon after that. We were both so incredibly comfortable and open with each other immediately – we loved being with each other so much and were just inseparable. We basically spent every day and night of the next 13 months together (we moved in together after less than 4 months), first in Taiwan and then in England. Then I had to go back to the US, and thus began the year-and-a-half long-distance portion of our relationship. We got married during his first visit to me six months after I left England (about a year and 7 months after our relationship began). We were never really "engaged" – we had known for a long time that we were going to spend our lives together, and the formality of getting married wasn't ever really a necessity for us (we're pretty non-traditional). We basically just decided when he visited that we wanted to start the process of him being able to settle with me in the US as quickly as possible. The best way to do that was just to get married... which we did at City Hall about a week later!

Sorry, kind of a long story, and most people won't read it, but it was kind of fun to relive it. We (he especially) never really cared much for marriage, but we're so glad we did it (and we love calling each other Wife/Hubs). We've been married for almost 11 months now, and our 10-month visa journey is almost over... finally!

We dated for 4 years before engagement, had our real wedding a year later, did civil ceremony 1 1/2 years after that. We joke that it's been 1 1/2 years since our civil ceremony, so it must be time to get married again.

I did try to do as much proof as I could because of so little time. I was afraid they would deny us for this, but NOT ONE problem.
