Let's get real...you saw her post...the one I quoted. "Sophisticated European man". That has pretty boy with an iPad written all over it. The guy probably has one of those hand bags that a lot of Euro guys carry around while they are wearing their sandals. Europe...especially Germany is full of those.

Yeah but what about someone who works out and takes care of their appearance... but gets out there and does manual labor in addition to intellectual things? For example, what about someone who teaches at a university and does research and has various computer and techy things-- shaves and tends to wear button-down things with nice jeans. This person also owns several guns, fixes their own vehicles, has a ton of tools which he also uses, lots of outdoor machinery, and does small-scale farming. How does that work into metrosexual vs. not? Interests: guns, motorcycles, cars, academic subjects, farming.

What about someone who shaves, plucks his beard line, wears suit pants and button down things most of the time, teaches at a university, but yet also does farming and their own building as well as repairs/work/construction? Clearly, Julianna, if a man is sophisticated, well-dressed, intelligent, and good-looking, he must (according to the small minds of the jealous, fat, old American men who can only find wives in foreign countries) (theoretically speaking) be "metro-sexual." To me that smacks of insecurity in these "real men" who can't believe that a "real man" could have any of the aforementioned characteristics.

Neither your husband nor mine could POSSIBLY be a real man. Because they aren't American. And, GASP, mine is German, so he must carry a man bag and an iPad (an American item, no less!), and be "unmanly." Your man is from MENA...we should probably not even touch that stereotype.

Doing something as a hobby and doing the same thing out of necessity are two entirely different animals imo. It's like regular full time army vs a weekend warrior who likes playing "dress up" in uniform.

Define by choice. All Americans have the choice to go to the grocery store therefore farming is not necessary. All Americans have the choice to go to a mechanic. All Americans have the choice to not use guns, ever. So I'm not sure what makes something a hobby. I mean, if you live off what you grow and you never see a mechanic unless it requires really specialized (expensive/huge) machinery, then is it a hobby? If you're retired from a job that required you to use a gun but you still keep and fire your guns a lot, is that now a hobby and therefore metro?

Actually I think the whole concept of a "metrosexual" is something that was created by feminists and gays to malign straight men. The whole premise is that a "normal" straight man owns 3 pairs of underwear and has lost two of them under the couch, is barely able to make sure his socks match each other, probably stinks, has no idea how to put on a suit, and refuses to comb his hair. In reality, men that take care of themselves and know how to look confident in a suit have always been more attractive to women. If you live in a metropolitan area where commuting by car is not practical, having a bag is a prerequisite. It's not a man-purse, it's called a briefcase.

The metrosexual was invented to perpetuate the stereotype that men are lazy slobs, providing an elusive antithesis.

In regards to the original post, I feel it's necessary to point out that the study doesn't necessarily indicate that men are unaware of their rate of success. It could also mean that the men that are bad at making women orgasm are just getting more. The problem with the study is that there doesn't have to be a one to one correlation of last times. The last time that a man had sex may not have been the last time that his partner had sex, and vice versa. It's possible that the last people to have had sex with most women are the men that are bad at sex. The men that are good at sex keep it to themselves and thus while their last partner orgasmed, she has since had sex with one of the promiscuous but sloppy lovers and thus is counted as a dissatisfied lover in this statistic although everyone may be aware of their own success level. (Naturally, this is not a probable explanation but just points out a logical fallacy in the study).
