apply for courses before I overstay (Canadian)

I've been in the States for more than 5 months now (about 20 days left to I overstay). Anyways I'm getting married in 1-2 months and doing an AOS. However I'm in specialized field (Satellite Engineering) and don't want to have a major gap of doing nothing. So I want to take some course to keep me active in the field.

I don't know how this goes against my situation. Can I apply to a community college or something and get granted/accepted in the next 20 days? Is there a minimum course load?

This is the M visa and not the J right?

If you are applying for AOS after marriage you need the GREEN CARD to go to school.

You will have to wait until your AOS is approved and you have your green card.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

To obtain the visa you would apply at the US Consulate back in Canada. Your plan is to stay and adjust status, so that won't work. +1 to Inky.

You may be able to take community college courses. Not sure if there is anything there that meets your educational track.

You would need an F1 to Study.

F1 is anon immigrant visa so you could not use that to enter with the intent to adjust.

Get married now?

M and J visas require you to leave the country, obviously not in your plan since you want to stay and AOS

You cannot attend school without your green card

By the way, you've been in the US for 5 months, isn't that already a major gap of doing nothing?

Good luck

Don't wait, get married now and apply for AOS, some school may allow you to attend classes while AOS is pending

For any school to accept you - you will need F1 visa for getting a F1 visa you need to show you have enough funding to cover your studies and living.

You will be required to take a full load, which would be 3-4 class min.

The whole process you gettig a F1 would not be possible in 20 days anyways most schools would be out for summer. You will have to wait until Aug for Fall semester to start, which as per your plan would not work.

you have 2 option:

1. Getting married immd and file for AOS - (extra effort to prove you had no intention of marriage when you entered)

2. Return home get married and file for AOS
