My fiancee's interview is coming up in less than four months and I have a few questions...

1. My approval notice will expire June 28, 2011 but the interview isn't until September 15, 2011. Does the consulate automatically extend the approval notice or is there something I need to do on my end?

2. Is anyone aware of USINT Havana doing more than one K-1 visa a day? Another K-1 VJ member has the same interview date!!!

3. Any info in regard to affidavit of support would be appreciated...questions at interview, co-sponsor, etc.

4. What needs to be translated to English...birth certificate, criminal record, marital status certificate?

5. Anything that may help.

THANKS

I have sent the Havana Consulate an email asking them to extend the approval notice date but have yet to receive a response from them. A friend of mine who has been approved told me that when she asked for an extension for the same reason she was told they do it automatically. I sure hope that is true.

At the interview they ask how you met and why you are in love. They can even ask is there something about her/him that annoys you? They want to know how you communicate (what language). They want to be assured that you both speak the same language at some level. There are many interview questions listed on this website, do a search, but of course they don't have time to ask them all. If there are children in Cuba, are they being left behind? They might ask about that. They will want to know how well you know each other, they may ask the beneficiary what their fiance does for a living, what the names of their children are. How do they stay in touch, how often? I don't know the answer to what needs to be translated. Good luck! Your interview is before ours - you got lucky, we got our NOA2 before you but our interview is a month later. Are you going to be at the interview?

I emailed the Havana Consulate three times about the petition expiring before the

interview date and finally today received the following response:

Thank you for your e-mail.

An approved K-1 visa petition is valid for a period of four months from the date of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) action and may be revalidated by a consular officer any number of times for additional periods of four months from the date of revalidation, provided the officer concludes that the petitioner and the beneficiary remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to marry each other within 90 days after the beneficiary's admission into the United States.

Given that you have taken the necessary steps to process your fiancé’s petition, the petition keeps its validity.

We hope this information is of assistance.
