I don't understand what the difference is between tucking sheets in and putting a fitted sheet over a mattress. Either way you have to bend over. Makes you wonder if Senator Kevin de Leon (D-Los Angeles) is helping out a company that makes fitted sheets.

Who knows? Maybe we can borrow Orly Taitz to do an in-depth investigation on this possible conspiracy.

Calm down good spartan king.

Workers deserve at least the protection to keep them employed. There's quite a difference- and I think you know it, between unsafe conditions and workplace attitudes. Maybe that's the difference between fans of the Gilded age and fans of the Modern age. At some point people learn what's better.

We live in such a sissy country right now. Seriously, we've turned into a bunch of girls. Hell, there are probably girls that have bigger balls than a lot of today's workers over all.

From "omg he looked at me funny, i'm going to sue" all the way to "the company car isn't hybrid, and the government should force it to be as it's poisoning me otherwise."

Seriously. The people that were the backbone of building this country, building its infrastructure and broke their backs doing so are turning in their graves over the BS we have today. Hotel workers and sheets? Are you effing kidding me?

Comedy aside, there's a difference between workplace attitudes and known safety issues.

But belittle musculoskeletal ailments from repetitive movements if you would like. Many jokes can definitely be had from that and I am sure that will make you a better person for it.

Here in Texas, our government doesn't waste time with stupid things like bed sheets.

We focus on the really important things...... like noodling?!?!

a lot of the hotel housekeepers i've seen have been overweight.

Perhaps there's a lot more to their injuries than BS like that.

Perhap it's the fact that they are out of shape and of course it does damage to move the way they do.

Yeah Paul... we can confer upon you a degree in Medical Science as well.

Concluding that housekeeping staff you've seen does not make an observation of all housekeepers, and you would have to be armed with the statistics for those housekeepers you have seen and their ailments, if any.

But if you want to address the obesity epidemic as a health concern I am sure we can find the time to discuss that as well.

All I'm saying is not everything is as simple as it may seem. Instead of arguments using actual statistics, they are usually one-sided. Which doesn't prove a case at all.

Either way, as I said, you have a choice where to work. You don't have a right to work. You have a right to look for a job and to try and obtain one, but you do not have a right to it, nor do you have the right to dictate the way you do your job. If you don't like it, quit.

The repetitive movement may indeed be causal. It therefore is not, by definition, BS.

Instead of banning fitted sheets, why not educate employees on proper lifting techniques? OSHA-compliance already requires training for job hazards, it would be a simple (and cheap) fix to simply add hotel workers to the list of folks required to participate in the program.

That might be a good idea, slim. I am sure though that its a time = money issue to the housekeeping budget. And usually the worker is tasked with doing more in less time. Besides, how will it be enforced? A union? Inspections?

OSHA already inspects hotels. All they'd have to do is check the training paperwork to ensure all employees were trained properly. It's as simmple as the company safety rep adding a single page of training to the company's training plan and each employee signing off on it.

I'm not sure how the government would quantify the cost (probably 50 to 60 Million new dollars) but it could be done cheaply and effectively by businesses for the price of a single-sided black and white copy.

True. For all involved it might be a great idea. Cheaper too in terms of workers compensation, etc.

Which is exactly why they won't do it. You can't have big governmnet without stupid laws.
