Hello,

Just wondered if anyone could clarify something for me. The consulate has received our application from the NVC, but I'm struggling to find information as to how long we should expect it to be before the actual interview.

I notice on the stats and trends it shows London having an average of 56 days from receiving it to interview (data taken from last 3 months) but I have also noticed a couple of people mentioning in the forums that London is backlogged and to expect to wait months. Does anyone know?

Also, as the medical needs to be done before the interview will be scheduled, do you know if it is possible to book and attend the medical before packet 3 is sent out? We have our LDN number from NVC.

Thank you! :)

Hi You can call the DOS or london and check your status and you should be able to book the Medical becuz you bave the LND number. It is easier to call them and clarify others have posted that they have downloaded packet 3 and completed i, I got mine via mail completed it and sent it then booked the medical and waited for an interview date it took them 2 weeks to give me a date for my interview a month today call 1 202 663 1225 press 0 then option 1 or try the london office option 3 it is worth the call for peace of mind.. You can book your medical as soon as you have your LDN number. So, today :-) Remember you will need to have your police certificate by the time you go to the medical.

Some people have received their interview dates before they have their medicals, it may be that it depends on the visa type. But the important thing is that nowadays they will cancel the interview if you turn up and they haven't received the medical results. (At least, that's what they say.)

I don't think London are as backlogged as some people seem to have said. I would go by the recent statistics. Now, the statistics include people who did not have their medical as soon as they could have, and people who did not send off the next lot of forms as soon as they could have. So, in general, you can expect it to be quicker than the statistics show. Having said that, 56 days represents what I think of as a "normal" timeline: up to a month to receive the interview letter, with the interview up to a month after that. However, they seem to be giving less notice right now.

Thanks so much for the prompt (and useful) replies! I called this afternoon and good job I did: she said there's a backlog and the next available appointment was 9th June. So, I'm booked for then. I'm so grateful for this forum otherwise I'd have been waiting weeks!

My fiancé is going to call DOS today or tomorrow to check on the status, but I feel better having a better approximate of how long it will take. Now just need to get police certificate and other documents ready in time!

Whilst you have your LND number, do make sure your case is actually LOGGED in the system before your medical :)

I think this thread is done but I just noticed this....

Remember you will need to have your police certificate by the time you go to the medical.

Wasn't true for me, I totally missed this one and the first I knew about it was at the interview when I was asked for it. I had the medical and there was no mention or need for a police cert. Luckily the police can get once to you in 72 hours and I was able to mail mine to the embassy to complete the package.

As for wait times.....bloody ages. I think we waited just under 7 months for the interview letter. In total it took me 10 months from initial filing to setting foot in the US.
