My wife and I had to travel to Mexico City to get copies of her birth certificate. When we went for her passport in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, we were told that the Registro Civil did not write in the year that Abi was born. Her family, as it were, made the all-time stupid decision to write in the date. Needless to say, they used another type of pen and another color. Aye Carumba! I was just a dumb American, so they just didn't listen to me when I told them that it would hurt us in the long run. When we took it back to the passport office, the manager who had pointed the error out to us the day before, saw what her family did, and threateded to have Abi arrested, and me deported. We decided to take our luck and try to get her passport in Ciudad Juarez, which we were successful.

We are now in the United States, and we are married, but Abi's passport cannot be renewed until we obtain another, official birth certificate. The Mexican consulate in Phoenix told us that we would have to get this birth certificate directly from the Registro Civil in Tlantlpantla, a suburb of Mexico City. We have had to wait two years, but we finally have the money for her temporary residence card, but since she cannot return to Mexico City, and I do not have a passport at all (I still owe child support), we need a way to get her another birth certificate. The consulate said that they would not honor the copy of the birth certificate that we had where the year of birth is not written, nor the one that our family altered. (We had bought more than one copy, and the family had only changed two out of five copies.)

The internet sites that claim to get any birth certificate from any country is obviously a scam. Not all Registro Civil's are on-line. The consulate cannot issue a birth certificate. We do not know anyone personally, in Mexico City who can get one for us, and how can we trust anyone there to do the right thing? We are afraid that they will just take our money and run. (We are willing to pay someone to help us.) Just short of paying for the whole trip for someone in the states to go there, which after plane tickets, hotel and food, would be very expensive, I am appealing to some of you who may have an answer to our problem.

ANY IDEAS?

That would be great. I sent you a private message with my email. Let me know when you get it by sending me an email. My wife will be happy. Thanks alot. We will not be submitting the paperwork for the Residency permit until mid July.

We are working on our timeline. I will post it as soon as it is ready. I am just getting the hang of this site, and journey.

Sarah and Micheal,

One other thing. We just recently passed through the consulate in Ciudad Juarez. I am sure that Abi and I can give you enough information for you guys to sail through the interview process much faster. Let us know.

Anyone else that will be going to Ciudad Juarez, feel free to contact us.

If you're filing for her Adjustment of Status then why do you need to renew her passport?

Obviously the Embasy in CDJ accepted what documents you had or she wouldn't be in the US. Use those same documents for her AOS filing.
