Getting an immigration lawyer from India to handle cases that has to do with US Immigration laws, that alone should give you a hint that this lawyer would not deliver, if you want an immigration attorney to handle your case, you should have consulted with one from and within the US. there's a lot of these so called Immigration Attorney in the Dominican Republic who have no clue about this process taking people's money for things they could have just read for free on VJ.

We went through this entire process as you can see, without paying a single dime to any Attorney, all just reading through the guides and advices from experienced VJ members.

That's why this site is so useful. Lawyers aren't personally involved so they don't really care too much. It you are living it, then you will give it your all to succeed since it has to do with someone you love. good.gifgood.gifgood.gif

I got scammed by the first Immigration Attorney I used (Tod Schlosser). He charged my credit cards twice after taking a $500.00 deposit, before filing any paperwork. When confronted, he wanted more money.

I was able to get most of the money back by filing a dispute with my credit card companies.

Did you pay the attorney with a credit card? If so, file a dispute with your credit card company right away.

You will get a quick reply from the attorney, I assure you.

Thanks everyone for all your replies. This lawyer is not from India. The one from India is my husband. I live in Boston Massachusetts. The lawyer is from here. I am trying all I can to get my files back. I even sent some emails to some news station. let see what happens. She is on good standing with the Bar of Overseers that is why I hire her. there was something in the case that she was the only one who saw it We went to many places looking for a lawyer. I didn't know about this website before all this happened. Now I know better. When I have to submit the 601 I will get people's opinion here. Thanks

I am sorry, maybe things will work out. I'm hoping an praying that they will for you. It is weird that your lawyer is not responding, I think you have no choice but to file a complaint, especially is she hasn't responded yet. VJers know their stuff, since they lived it themselves. GOOD LUCK!!!!!good.gifgood.gifgood.gif

If you did use your credit card(s) and you have an online bank account, file a dispute online right away.

If you don't have an online bank account for the credit card, set one up at their site right away, then file a dispute right away.

I think they only keep purchases in your online account for 90 days.

If the lawyer does end up being a scam artist, you can report them to the "Internet Crime Complaint Center" at http://www.ic3.gov

Good luck,
