Just received an RFE because I didn't have a I-693. I'm so upset. Now I have to find a civil surgeon and figure out where to go from here. They state that my vaccination record has been reviewed and is complete, so I don't know what more they want, I guess.

Sorry to hear that and how frustrating, especially hearing that others (myself included) didn't need the I-693. Good luck on a speedy fix!

I'm confused because they state that since my vaccinations are complete, I don't need to fill out that part of the form. So what didn't I send in that I should have? Bah!

Coconuts that SUCKS!

:(

Finding a civil surgeon shouldn't be too hard. There were a few in my area at least that were able to do it. Not like Canada.

RFE's are soooo frustrating and a lot of the time it's something so simple! I've been told that RFE's in AOS don't hold up the process much so, you should be fine as far as the time frame goes! Definitely keep us updated on what the RFE was, it's so weird that they are requesting that form even though your record is complete...

I'm unsure what to ask for since they DON'T need my vaccinations. I just get the rest of the medical all over again?!

Here's what the RFE actually says:

Although USCIS received your vaccination record, other medical information is missing. Specifically, a review of the record indicates that you entered the United states pursuant to a valid K-1 nonimmigrant visa and all USCIS records relating to you have been reviewed, but the U.S. Department of State medical forms DS-2053, DS-3024, and DS-3026 are not in any of those records.

Therefore, a new medical form must be filled out by a civil surgeon and sent to UCSIS in order to process this case further.

Then it says:

The applicant is required to submit a new Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, that is properly completed and signed. Please note, the vaccination record has been received by USCIS; therefore, the vaccination portion of the form does not have to be completed.

I'm so confused. :crying:

It sounds like they do need the rest of the medical, and not the vaccinations. :( Have you found a civil surgeon?

At least once you send it back to them, you know it won't be long until you have an interview (or just your green card).

Yeah, seems like they lost my medical. :( Great. I've found a civil surgeon around here, have to call and see what she charges. Hopefully it's nothing outrageous.

Do you think it was USCIS that lost it? or could it have been when you POA'd?

No idea! Obviously, last time I saw that envelope was when I POE'd ... no idea what happened to it after that.

I called Medisys to see if they have records of my medical. Good news is that they do .. bad news is that they want to charge me over $100 to get them.

Next step is to see how much a new medical exam will cost and what's covered by insurance.

  • 2 weeks later...

SO FRUSTRATED!

I went down to the SSA office to change my last name on my Social Security card. I was informed that my name on my green card does not match my SSN. Mt green card states Firstname M. Lastname (M being my middle initial). All of my forms I put my full middle name (which is May). When I got my SSN the first time, the guy got upset with me stating that I don't have a middle name. I guess the way it is on my passport states Firstname May, Lastname. So, I don't know what the heck happened! I don't know if USCIS entered my name incorrectly, or the SSA.

They sent my info to homeland security for review. They said I should hear in 3-4 weeks. I really hope this works out. I know others here had issues involving the SSA...has anyone had their issues resolved? Did they have mis-matched names? I don't plan to start looking for a job until June (I am going back to Canada at the end of this month, returning at the beginning of June...Canadian wedding celebration!!! The big party!).

UGH.

Just poking my head in here real quick. I'll catch up with all the other posts in this thread soon!

Good news! My hubby's old job called to set up an interview. For various reasons, one being that the position is in a remote area where not a lot of people would be willing to work, we're pretty sure they're VERY interested in re-hiring him. The interview is on the 13th.

OMG! I'm so excited... 4 months of us both being unemployed was crappy, and the thought of having to drive across the country in a car was NOT appealing. But now it looks like we'll probably be staying here. It's not 100% yet, of course, but I can't help but do a little happy dance    If he starts working soon enough, too, I can apply for AOS before my medical expires in June. :D
