Oh no!! :(

My biometrics letter says to reschedule I send the letter to the office where the appointment was with no indicator of how much notice needs to be given, so I'd imagine they would reschedule you if you did so, but no saying how quickly.... Definitely call USCIS first thing Monday and hopefully they can offer guidance :(

Yeah, mine has the reschedule part too on the notice. I'm just worried that it's too late. If I sent them a request for rescheduling in the mail tomorrow, I don't think it would get to Milwaukee on time and I'm really worried that they'd think I abandoned my appointment. Ugh. :(

My notice for the actual AOS interview says the following: If an emergency, such as your own illness or a close relative's hospitalization, prevents you from appearing, call the USCIS National Customer Service Center as soon as possible. So calling them first thing tomorrow is likely your best bet, just to make sure they know you're sending it to Milwaukee to be rescheduled? I hope it works out :(

We had an emergency and had to reschedule last minute ...

When I called USCIS, they told me it was fine and to submit for a new appointment date same way it says to on the letter. It's only considered "abandoned" if you make NO attempts to reschedule.

I would call USCIS anyways to confirm. Good luck!!

Thank you for this. This gives me hope. I think in my pessimistic mind, I assume that if I don't show up on Tuesday and if my letter to reschedule isn't received by them on Tuesday, they'll consider it abandonment.

I'll definitely call USCIS and make sure.

Coconuts, I'm sorry to hear that :( I hope you can reschedule it without too much trouble. Someone broke into our car a couple weeks ago too, oddly enough

Good luck with your interview tomorrow Ralyse!

Right now, the plan is for my husband to just come home when it's done being fixed. Absolute worst case scenario is that he gets home at 2am and we have to leave at 5:30am to head to Milwaukee. I'm going to call USCIS tomorrow and talk to them about it, though. We'll see what happens. Of all the times for this to happen.. :(

Good luck, ralyse! I hope the roads aren't too bad for you tomorrow.

I called USCIS this morning and was told that if I miss my appointment tomorrow, I am still able to send the letter for it to be rescheduled and they will resend another appointment date. They understand that emergencies happen on the days of appointments, so there seems to be a grace period. Cases are only abandoned if attempts to reschedule aren't made.

That's good to hear Coconuts, although I know it's frustrating that you have to wait longer.

Good luck ralyse!

I just... this whole process. I just can't even.

Felt like interview went really well, she didn't have a lot of questions, just the expected stuff and all that... only she ends by saying she hadn't looked over our file beforehand so she couldn't make a decision at this time. And that we'd hear from them within 30 days. Which, I know it's probably fine but I'm really tired from not sleeping well last night and stressing over this and the 3 hour drive each way and she can't tell us anything because she didn't have the time to look at anything beforehand?

This whole process is emotionally draining.

It's just these little things like the 5 hours of panic over my medical because my doctor was being a jackass or the guy at biometrics freaking me out over my married name... like, I know I'm really fortunate that we haven't dealt with lost cases or cheques or lots of RFEs or any of the dozen other complications that can arise... I just would really have liked to have walked away today with one stress off my shoulders, yknow?

Bleh.

Glad you'll be able to reschedule your biometrics no problem, though! Hopefully they get you another appointment relatively soon!

Oh, I know. The worrying is the worst part. I'm a chronic worrier, and I always fear the worst even when things will usually be fine. I've been up many of nights during this process just worrying and stressed. So I know how you feel. It'll all work out though!

Good news is that I don't have to reschedule my appointment. My husband's car is being worked on right now and he should be home by 11pm tonight. Time to get some sleep before having to leave for Milwaukee in the morning. Thank goodness!

Wow Ralyse, I probably would've lost my mind and kicked someone's @ss! Ugh. Only 2 1/2 more years before you can apply for citizenship and forget about USCIS! :bonk: I really hope this is the last incompetent person you have to deal with and that you receive your card shortly.
