So, tonight I leave for my medical. It's super early and I'm about an hour-ish from Toronto so my mom and I are driving there tonight. I'm a little nervous (although I'm no totally sure why) but I'll be glad to have it finished. I'm not good with bloodwork  but that should be quick and only a small portion of it. I'll let everyone know how it went!

Good luck! I'm sure it'll go by smoothly.

Mine's on the 21st. I'm getting up at 5am to catch the Go Train ugh. XD By the way, the lady for Dr. Seiden's said she opens the doors at 6:30, in case anyone was wondering. :)

Mine is next Monday, we're going to stay with my mom in Brampton the night before so we don't have to leave KW as early in the morning. I'm pretty worried about my vaccination documents, I just don't think I've got enough... we'll see what happens, though.

Let us know how it goes! :D

I'm somewhat worried about my vaccination documents because although I have an official one that lists most of them, a few were missing. So when I went to my family doctor she wrote in the other ones I got by hand and signed it and wrote her phone number on the page, rather than fill out a new sheet. I suppose that should be good enough but it still makes me nervous.

Can you get a new vaccination sheet from any office, or does it have to be your family doctor?

What I MEANT to say was that all the vaccinations I've received are current and I don't need any more, but not all of them were recorded on the sheet, except in my doctor's handwriting. XD

I'm really worried too, because my doctor is a bit of a ####### and all he gave me is a sheet showing MMR/Hep immunity and proof of my last tetanus shot. We'll see what happens Monday, I guess.

I'm almost glad my interview is on August 22nd because should something happen at my medical at least it gives me a decent amount of time to fix it. I'd still rather not though. I'm done with all this running around, going to Mississauga multiple times to get a police certificate and a birth certificate translation, and going all the way to Front street in the early morning. :dead: I know it's hardly worth complaining about, especially when other VJers are so much farther away from the consulate and doctor's offices, but I just want to veg out and be lazy now.

Let me know how your medical goes ralyse :) I hope it works out alright.

So I just got back from Toronto and it was relatively quick and mostly painless! ;)

You know how in the email, they say to get there anytime between 7:00 and 8:00 but that they open the doors around 6:30? I highly recommend getting there for 6:30. I arrived there just at that time and there was only one other girl waiting. By around 6:45-7:00 while I was being shuffled from room to room, the waiting room started to fill up pretty quickly.

It's early but it's worth it - I was finished by 7:40 or so, so I was only there for a little over an hour.

I wouldn't worry about your vaccination stuff too much. :) I had a minor bump with mine because I switched family doctors in 2007 and somewhere in the transition of my medical records, the date of my MMR was changed to March 27, 1990 which means I would have had it before I was 1 year old (my birthday is in the first week of August) and therefore they couldn't accept it. I didn't ask why but apparently you need to be over 1 year for your MMR. That being said, the doctor said that it's really strange that they would do it so early and so it was likely a typo.

What I brought as far as vaccination proof was just a print out from my family doctor that says, "There are the immunizations I have recorded for Kayla ______." and then a list of vaccination names and dates. He accepted it just fine. *shrug* She didn't sign it or anything, either, and her name isn't even on that document, so I wouldn't worry. I brought some other minor documents from her, one of them was a letter stating I had been her patient since such and such and I take these medications and have that allergy and I go to her for routine well woman care. That one had her name and signature, but he didn't even ask for or look at it.

All that being said, when we hit the bump with my MMR, I told him I had my official vaccination record (the little yellow card) and I was fairly sure it was a different date on there, but I couldn't remember that date on it off the top of my head. He said that was fine and if it is late enough to put me at over one year to fax a copy of it to him and it would be fine. :) He said if it did turn out that that was the correct date, I would just need a booster and a quick note faxed from my doctor.

So I don't think they're super concerned that it's on the official vaccination record card. They just care that your doctor has authorized it. The way he mentioned the yellow card made me think they know most people lose those, anyway. (I think he said something along the lines of, "Oh, if you still have that..." )

Y'all will be fine! I worked with about 4 or 5 different doctors/nurses for each step and they were all relatively friendly, too. :) They're very efficient and business-like but they were kind. Hope that eases some minds!

Thanks Kayla, that actually does set my mind at ease a lot!!

And Pocheros: I feel the same way about having a month and a half between the medical and the interview, lots of time in case I need to re-clarify anything or there's any problems.
