So I went to the doctor's appointment today and was told I have Fibromyalgia (google it if you are interested to learn more, I am too tired to type it right now lol).

He has me on medication (I've been on this before) and I have totally forgotten the lovely side effects that come with it for the first few days. I'm cold but sweating, tired, nauseous, the list goes on, but I know it will go away so it's just a matter of sticking it out. I am just happy to finally know whats going on so I can try to keep it under control.

Good to hear you finally have a diagnosis Stina.....makes a difference. I went through something similar for years that was a mosquito borne virus that caused similar symptoms. Years ago this would of been lumped in under chronic fatigue syndrom (which is just a group of symtoms) but they have come to the realisation in the past years that many such things do have original sources and as such many now have a distinctive diagnosis. With the right medication your symptons should now subside.....great to hear  It does get depressing and completly understand where you have been coming from.

I have it too. Glad you are diagnosed, but be warned there is not much they can do and you will be in pain and feel like ####### quite often.

Im not so sure about that. I was told mine would always be with me, yet mine has subsided quite substancially. I have flare ups still every couple of years which have at times hospitalised me, but overall I am fine now.

Oh Stina...HUGS. (F) That is a tough condition. *sigh* It helps to know what's wrong, but I certainly hope things improve for you. I have PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome and when I was first diagnosed, it took the doctors TWO years to finally diagnose me.

Take care dear (F)

Fibromyalgia is a difficult thing to be diagnosed with, but I know making your psychological situation as good as possible is a good way to keep systems at bay. I hope knowing what's the matter will take a lot of the stress off your shoulders. Take good care of yourself!

One upside to fibromyalgia (the U.S. is part of the 50% of countries in the world who consider fibromyalgia a disease) is that you might be able to get insurance to cover a hot tub. My aunt did!

what medication have they got you on Stina? I've had fibro since 1988 and nothing has really ever helped me at all. I've just learned to deal and force myself out of bed every day :P

I hope you fare better than I have. *hugs* Sometimes just having the diagnosis helps. It took them 12 years to give my symptoms a name.

For the record, I don't think the diagnosis will deter those who think she's a hypochondriac. Fibro is widely over-diagnosed, much like ADD. If you complain of pain and fatigue, and the doctor can find no other cause, he/she often diagnoses it as fibro.

Just playing devil's advocate... If Stina says she has fibro, then I accept that as truth.

A friend of mine in college suffered from fibro, but these days she has no symptoms. Glad to hear that you finally have a diagnosis, and I hope your treatment plan works.

I tried to let this go past me. But cant. Just phisically. heh ;)

So I went to the doctor's appointment today and was told I have Fibromyalgia (google it if you are interested to learn more, I am too tired to type it right now lol).

Wow.. Hhehe.. How was the visit???. Was it like this:

Stina: Doc I am tired, dont wanna do anything kinda pain somewhere.

Doc: Fibromalalgia.

He. well i guess there is a scientific name for everything.

Oh Stina...HUGS. rose.gif That is a tough condition. *sigh*

Tough indeed see quote below:

One upside to fibromyalgia (the U.S. is part of the 50% of countries in the world who consider fibromyalgia a disease)

Means 50% dont even consider it to be a desease. Tough indeed. I bet all 100% consider cancer, aids, coronary somethhing a desease.

Tough indeed

now on the road to recovery good.gif

I dont think so. Now she has a scientific name. Thats it, thats the end. Finita la Comedia. Since she "Knows" she has a "Problem". Well, than its never be changed. The problem is in the head. Its brain problem. Its how you think. But now its ruled out as a possibility.

Wel what I can say - Procrastinate more. Now you have a reason to indulge in self-pity (scientific name for this?), well use it wisely. You already got enough here. You have "Tough" condition. ;) Try to get handicapped parking priviledges. After all its tough.

From Yahoo:

* Getting regular exercise to help with muscle aches and stiffness.

* Changing your routine, schedule, and surroundings to improve your sleep habits and reduce stress.

* Taking medicine to help you sleep better and to relieve pain.

* Getting counseling to help you to manage long-term (chronic) pain and find better ways to handle stress.
