My spouse is having lots of run around in getting PCC from Bhopal (MP, India). Her passport is 5 months old. The person who accepts the application just doesn't get it. As per the counter person Passport office can only give PCC once Visa is approved. My spouse tried to make him read all the documents where it says NVC and later consulate need PCC from Passport office. It's just not happening. Please suggest what should I do to get this Passport PCC done.

When she goes for interview if her passport is less then 6 month old she does not need the Passpot PCC.

If the clerk is not listening your spouse will have to find someone senior in the office to talk to, most of the time seniors officers have better understanding of all this things compared to the regular clerk.

Letter from consulate saying you need a passport clearance is enough, but if your passport is only 5 months old passport office will not issue u a PCC.

Thanks for your reply. The person won't let you bypass him and talk to any one senior..its really so frustrating.

Don't you need to submit passport PCC at NVC stahe to complete the NVC process?

At this stage how I can get Letter from consulate saying you need a passport clearance ?

As per this

Frequently Asked Questions - Immigrant Visa Unit

Do I need to get a police certificate for the interview?

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the Local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

You don’t need the letter, give them the print out from the NVC site which says what all the documents you need.

When I had approached Mumbai passport office that all I gave them, pictures (tons of them)…..lol filled couple forms and my passport and paid their fees.

Passport PCC is required for lot of things like even for ppl who want to work in Middle East etc. so Mumbai passport office has a separate line for it and that is all that window does, not sure on Bhopal.

You can use the letter I gave you and show that to clerk saying you need a similar one.

We did show your letter and all we heard is it's from Mumbai we don't give PCC here before you have the Visa. Perfect catch 22 !!

Lol- I guess the clerk is just looking to make some money..:)

I would say is if you can jump the clerk and find out who is the senior officer in the passport office then you can directly approach him.

I had similar problem with my police PCC constable was asking for all kind of documents which were not relevant to stall the process and I had to apprach the senior inspector at that station.

Once the constable overheard me talking to inspector he was like I will verfiy the documents and get it done, but expect to pay all these guys.
