Hi! My fiance went to get his vaccinations yesterday and they told him that for the Hepatitis B shot, you have a schedule of 3 shots. The second comes one month after the first, and the third is 6 months after the second. For the Hepatitis A shot, you get one shot and 6 months later you need a second. Our interview is June 15th and we were hoping to leave Chile in July. This means we have about 2 months for the vaccinations.

Did anyone else encounter this problem? Will they allow him to enter the US as long as he's started the vaccines and assuming he finishes the other shots in the US?

Thanks!!!

J

You only need the first of the series.

You must have the next set and proof from the civil surgeon when applying for AOS.

Already did this, Had to get the first shot of HPV, but by the time I was applying AOS they made HPV non-requirement so I didn't need to finish the shots.

He went to have his doctor appointment and she said that he needed to get 8 vaccinations. He has no record from his childhood of which shots he got. She gave him the prescriptions for the required shots. We are not doing them ourselves. He is going to the clinic.

hmmm... well I'll ask my fiance again, but he said that the doctor told him he needed all of them. I guess if you don't have the record to prove you got them as a child, you have to get the basic ones again to prove that you have them. Did you have a record from your childhood?

Correct if there is no record they will make you take all the shots and give you a record of you having them.

UNLESS! a titre test is requested. If one of thos is done they can check from the blood work what immunity the person has and that would determine if they need the shots or not.

Most people opt to just have the shots done because it takes less time than waiting on blood tests.

I had a letter from the hospital saying that I had had all my vaccines, but the Dr. said it wasn't necessary cause they know how the immunization program is in Chile and he just gave me the shot that wasn't in that program when I was a child...I got one more shot here for AOS, the tetanus one, so basically I got the MMR and Tetanus, that's it. I went to a different Dr. though, but I heard that Dr. Grossman knows better about the visa process and give copies of the documents required for AOS.
