I received the NOA2 letter saying that my case was sent to the consulate in Bogota, and not to the NVC. The problem I am having now is that I wanted her to fax the necessary documents to the embassy to set up the interview, but no one can give me the new case number. I sent an email to the embassy in Bogota, but they wrote back and said that they are too busy to answer emails.

Has anyone had this problem before? How can I get the new case number?

Thanks,

This is a normal response on NOA2. However, rest assured, they all go through NVC, assigned a case #, then forwarded to Consulate.

You can try calling NVC and see if they have your case # yet. Usually takes them about 1-3 weeks after they receive it to get case # from what I have seen. A few fortunate are faster and a few unfortunate are slower.

Good Luck.....

Thanks for the responses. I called the NVC and they told me it would not go through them so I got a little concerned about how I would find out the new case number. I'll keep calling them every few days until they give me the correct case number.

There's some real smart asses working at NVC. I just got off the phone with one. I dont care what they say they all go through NVC. I find the automated system much easier to deal with than some of the rude depressed people working there. Although, in fairness, I have spoken to some really nice people there too. But UGH it grinds my gears to get on the phone with someone being nasty to you when all you're calling about is when you will get to see someone you're in love with again. So frustrating.
