Hi Everybody, I hope someone can help me with this. Accordign to everythign I have read, the approved petition is forwarded to the NVC adn thento the consulate in DR. My petition was approved on May 6th and I have been calling NVC for a week and they keep telling me they do not have it. Today someone tells me that they have up to 90 days to receive the petition.. Umm well the approval is only valid until Septemer 6th... So I called VSC and they told me my petition was forwarded to consulate not to NVC.. Should I be calling the consulate to check? I am about to do that. Am I missign a step..This is sooo fustrating!!!!

Not sure what is going on, but I can assure you that your case did not go directly to consulate. The NOA2 letters all say that, (ours did also), but the application definitely goes to NVC where it is assigned a case # then forwarded to consulate. I guess if I were you, I would be calling everyday, and asking to be elevated to a supervisor. Quick question, did you receive your hardcopy in the mail????

Good Luck

Yes you should be calling the consulate now to see if they have it. It is my understanding that everything goes to NVC (aka Department of State) first, but in many cases it is a pro-forma step and goes straight on to the consulate. Could be wrong on my understanding, but in any event it isn't unusual for the petition to go to the consulate. It all depends on the country (and the alignment of the moon, stars, planets and whatever diviniation tools they use that month)

All NOA2s say that its being forwarded to the Consulate but it does make a stop at NVC that is where you are given the new case number that starts SDO. Since you have already received your NOA2 hard copy you can call NVC and ask for your new case number. The number is 603 334 0700 the operators are there from 7:30am to 12:00pm EST. Good Luck!

First..I understand your frustaration...but, don't panic. K1's usually say they have been forwarded to the consulate, but all of these go through the NVC...no doubt about that (if a cs rep says different ask for a super). USCIS will tell you could be 90 days...not realistic.

GOOD NEWS...We recieved NOA2 on 27 APR. We had the same problem. No one could tell us where our petition was. NVC, no record, USCIS, it's been approved...well I know all this. In our case I had to wait the 15 business days, then send and email to NVCResearch@state.gov asking for help with EAC #. Sent this yesterday...well, guess what...CALLED TONIGHT AND THE CASE IS IN THE SYSTEM AND THEY GAVE ME OUR MNL NUMBER. NOA2 to NVC recieve was 21 actual days. Be patient, call and inquire with a cs rep everyday (don't use the avr, it won't be there). they will tell you wait the 15 days then email. I think in our case it was on someones desk and the email prompted them to find it at NVC, and that's why it was entered in their system today.

Good Luck!

Yes I agree. All application goes to NVC before it goes to the consulate!! The NVC is the one who will give the case number!!

Thanks everyone!! I called yet again today (2X in one day) and theyr received it and gave me the case number..

Just keep calling the visa specialist until they give you an interview date. Once you have the date, stay on top of ACTUALLY getting the packet. If the beneficiary has not received the packet within two weeks of the interview you should call the Embassy and request a "duplicate" packet for pick-up directly at the Embassy in Santo Domingo. My fiance had to do this since he never received the packet and we actually never received news of the interview! If it had not been for the fact that I stayed on top of the situation calling the visa specialist the interview would have come and gone without us being aware of it...
