yeah i tried to get one as well and just got sick of trying. i am just assuming they will issue a number with the green card or ead so i am not even trying anymore. i havent needed it for anything thus far and i have car insurance and a bank account set up here too.

Nope they do not just issue one. K-1 visa holders have to apply for an SSN.

The only time the SSN is issued and mailed without applying is with a CR-1 / IR-1.

Okay so we went back to the same office. Same woman at the window. She insisted it would take months again and the information wouldn't match up, but I explained I'm entitled to a SSN regardless of me being married or not and she began processing it.

Then she said I would receive my card in 4 weeks time. I just didn't say anything. Bitches be crazy.

Packet arrived at CSC: 10/09/2013

Check cashed: 10/11/2013

NOA1: 10/09/2013

oh great... are you serious?! i just got an rfe, havent got the hard copy yet but that's probably what its for. ugh. that sucks really bad.

I'd generate a letter of complaint, make sure it got into her personnel jacket.
