Greetings,

I have been a frequent visitor (but new member) to VJ and I am so thankful for a site like this during my personal journey. Everyone is so helpful and supportive...PRICELESS!

I wanted to share my experience with the NVC and see if anyone could relate. I receive my NOA2 on April 27th (this was a pleasant surprise considering that it was a bit ahead of schedule) However, since that time I remain oblivious as to where we stand now.

I was happy to hear that the NVC was open for hours on end to accommodate inquiries like mine but was disappointed when I learned that they had my finance's date of birth (D.O.B.) incorrect in their systems and therefore no information about the application could be relayed to me. Note, to be provided any information relating to your case you will need to have a receipt number, names of the petitioner and beneficiary and D.O.B. of both parties. I was in total disbelief and checked my copy of the I129-F to ensure that the D.O.B. was correct (I've been known to make errors). After confirming that the "screw up" was not on my end I contacted the NVC again just to ensure I wasn't hearing things or that the representative hadn't

made an error.

To my dismay I received the same information...NOTHING! I was informed the only way that I could be provided the information was if I provided a copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate or passport. My fiance is a bit more laid back than I (or maybe normal) so within a matter of days when he got the birth certificate to me it is no longer a valid form of verification for the D.O.B. The passport was not even a possibility because by some twist of fate his D.O.B. in the passport was also incorrect so the Consulate has been in possession of it correcting that error for some time now.

I then decided to contact USCIS to see if there was something they could do for me. The representative for USCIS informed me that I should try to make an appt. to speak to an immigration officer via INFOPASS. Waste of time! The immigration officer promptly dismissed me and stating, "it is out of our hands", and even providing false information about the length

of time that the K1-Visa is valid (referring to the 4 month timeline for the I129-F).

So...I am curious to find out if anyone can direct me to what possible steps I can take to track where things are with our application. I know it WILL happen but for the obsessive

kind like me...I just HAVE to know (and update my timeline too)...

Do you have an NVC case number?

You may get some help from DOS but I'm not sure. The number is 202-663-1225, choose option 1, then 4, then 2, then 3, then 2, then 0 for a visa specialist.

Without the NVC case number they may not be able to help.

Good luck!

hi,

I almost had same problem. I was able to send them through email my fiancee's birth certificate and her passport and they were kind enough to correct the date of birth with in a day. May be you should do same.

But, now my problem is, they are holding my file since 2 weeks and every time I call them they tell me to contact them in a day or two. Surprisingly, some of the file does not even stay for 2days at NVC. Has any one going through this. Please share!!!!!!

Rob
