I am a naturalized citizen & 3 months pregant. Im in the process of filing a I-130 for my dad & I was told that I could apply for medicaid to help with my doctors expenses. I would like to know does anyone have any information on how does me doing so affects my application? Would medicaid hurt my chances of my dad coming to the US?

As far as I know you have to prove that you have good financial standing to sponsor someone for a family based visa, which is what you are doing for your father. Good financial standing means that you have to have annual income 125% times the natinal povery amount. This is a different number depending on how many dependents you have. This is a web site which will tell you more about those numbers http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/11poverty.shtml. There is an affidavit of support you would have to sign for your dad and its intended to show that he would not be a "burden" - need public assistense. So in short you might need to find a cosponsor for the application for your father. You can always make an infopass appointment and ask or call a lawyers office they will be able to tell you and a lot of the times they answer questions without charging you anything.

Best of luck!
