Hey Fellow VJ's

I know this question must get asked alot.

I just wanted to start a new topic for some help and support from fellow vj's & get there expierence.

Basically my fiance received the NOA1 receipt letter in the mail (I-797c) and it is dated as of March the 16th.....

Vermont Service Centre

Now what happens? Do I need to have anything ready or just wait? I have read through the forums and from what I can see its a waiting game from now till the NOA2....

So how long can it be?

Should i do anything in the mean time? like prepare anything

Will a RFE be asked from anytime till the NOA2? and can they request a RFE after a NOA2?

I just need some insight and help please. I really appreciate the time guys

Many Thanks,

RC :star:

Best thing is to look at your consulate info from Embassy info site (see top of VJ page) and see what they require and also Embassy Review site (also top of page) which gives you insight into what to expect. You should find details on the DS156 and DS156K and DS230 and Police Release form etc... You can get these ready and send them back so when you get the NOA2, you are all set to go.

You can also get other info ready for the interview ... including Birth Certificate, passport, evidence of relationship, I-134 etc. It should all be mentioned on those to Embassy Info and Embassy Review sites.

I've found that if you look at other petitioners, it can be confusing at times because requirements for their beneficiary's country can be different. You may want to check with the Aussie Portal where they will have perhaps already been through the process. Best of luck.

Also compile evidence of ongoing relationship, since sending I-129F... copies of ongoing communication, photos, boarding passes, etc.

I suggest you must wait when you have your approval for the reason that some CO needs recent documents prior to your interview. I don't know about your embassy but thats what I knew from ours here in the Philippines. Your NOA2 will come prolly by the next 3-6 months.. Who knows, it might be earlier than that.

As of the moment, enjoy the time while you're still with your family. Your gonna miss them when you move. Good luck!

Check and double check the information you've gathered so far so you're not going to be sitting with an expired passport at the interview. Make sure you have the required age appropriate vaccinations(this is mostly if they're less expensive in Aussie, and won't cause a delay later on). Get a sneakpeak at packet 3 so you know what to bring for your interview and how to prepare. Take copies/backup/scans(e.g. on a memory stick/usb) of all original documents you submit.

Btw, if you recieve an RFE that is your NOA2 - then the approval becomes your NOA3 although it's less like referred to as a NOA3 on Visa Journey.

Last but not least - I divided everything into "before POE/after POE" - there's a bunch to look into after POE.

Good luck and enjoy a hopefully smooth journey : )

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

Thanks Guys. Gave me some insight.

Thanks Andie too :) looks like we are in the same boat waiting for our NOA2 :) Fingers crossed it happens soon.

I have our wedding date planned for October, I really hope it can happen.

Thanks Moomin :)

I have a question. How much does it all end up costing?

So as not to confuse... I mentioned getting things ready to send back, but as you no doubt already know.. you don't send anything until you get advice of your NOA2, and I'm planning to just have everything ready and then call my Consular Office to check if I can send before the Packet 3 actually turns up. (I would be more patient but I have some strict deadlines to meet). Yes looks like we filed about the same time and with VSC -- fingers crossed for us both.

Also, I read a couple of days ago someone had calculated that it is approx $2000 all up

Andie. Do you know where I can get a run down on all the process we both await on? It confuses me a little.

Thanks ;)
