Hello All,

i'm kind of new to this. I met my wife in 2009. in Aug 2009 we got engaged i applied for my fiance using the I-129. Petition was approved however, her visa was denied at the embasy. so i went back to india and we got married. i applied for her on Nov 22, 2010. i did not hear anything back from CSC. So i called the 800 number and asked for status update. Few days later i got an email from CSC saying that my case is in "extensive background check" and will take additional 6 months. i talked to a lawyer today he said he could not help and i should get in touch with my congressman. has anyone gone through this before? any and all comments are appreciated.

I got the same letter from USCIS that my case is in extensive background check. So I contacted our congressman's office since it is more than 5 months already. And today I received an email that my case was approved. See my timeline below.

Why were you denied the first time?

Any red flags in your case, such as previous foreign spouse, are you related to your wife etc?
