Well, we finally have an interview date, 17 June at 9:00 AM. Lena wants to get an estimate of how long the interview lasts from start to finish from those of you who have gone through the process. She needs to consider what time to schedule her return train ride back to Kharkov. I realize that an estimate is - just that but please chime-in. Thanks so much!

From what I can see the call center closes at 6:00 pm and most services at the consulate start closing after 3:00 pm. Unless there are some extenuating circumstances that require her to stay for a second day, it would be a safe bet to book the return train for sometime after 6:00. She can always do some shopping in Kiev with any free time after the interview.

Elena said it last approximately 3 hours. She and Anton were there approximately at 0830 and were out the door around 1130. I think there were two other couples there. It all depends on how busy they are. I wish you good luck but I know all will be perfect.

I waited about 10 days then I began calling the Embassy. I did not wait for Packet 4. The first time I called Roman told me that the dates for May were closed and said I should call on 16 May, which I did. First available interview is 17 June so now Lena is scheduled. Thank you and I hope you will soon have your interview date.

I called NVC for the case number and then waited a few days. If they don't have the case number wait a day or two and call again. I emailed the consulate and they said our case was received and in the system. Then my fiance called the "call center" to schedule an appointment.

Victoria spent almost half the day, she thinks they were short staffed. But from what I've read, 2-3 hours is more typical.

Have her take a bus back. That's what we did. That way there are no time constraints.

You will have to go in at 8:30. There are usually 5-6 others. In our case we were the 5th of 6 couples to be interviewed and we were out by 11:00 AM. The last couple joined us in the line at the Fedex window. When Sergey went, again there were 6 people to be interviewed and he was done before 10:30. The interview will last about 1 minute or so, the rest is turning in your documents (maybe 10 minutes) and then sittig around waiting to be called to the interview window. She will easily be able to catch the evening train back.

Never. We are still waiting for packet 3 to be delivered to our flat. Packet 4 is just a letter to confirm your appointment, you do not need it. 2-3 weeks after NVC finishes your case, call the call center and make the appointment. If they do not have your case in the system yet, call back the next week, The call center is ONLY updated one time per week late on Friday (after they close) so calling Monday mornings is best.

You do not need packet 3 and you do not send anything to Kiev before the interview.

Well it depends on the amount of people there that day and how well you answer the questions, but in 2008, Natasha was there for an 0830 appointment and was out in under two hours. By the way, I hate the train ride, especially if she is taking the overnight train. Kharkov was the first Ukrainian city I visited. If you can afford it, Ukraine International has an afternoon flight going to Kharkov. It's quicker and convenient. Good Luck!!!!
