very strange call to uscis

Calling USCIS is very unfruitful. As mentioned here before, they read a script, that's all. They can not really answer any questions. We recieved NOA2 on 4/27, it says the petition was sent to embassy. After waiting a few days I started calling the Automated response at NVC. They had no record of my case, called NVC CS, they had no record (sometimes the automated system is a couple of days behind the CS reps). They said give it 15 business days to get to NVC.

In the meantime I called USCIS because usually the NVC recieves within 7 days. CS rep says it's been approved on 4/27. They asked me to read the I-797, then said "well, we must have sent it to the embassy. I informed her that was not correct, they all go through NVC, "she said then why does it say went to embassy"...I said "I dont know"...she put me on hold then came back and said her super told her they all go through NVC. Great, now I asked her, can you tell me where it's at? She says it was sent to NVC. I asked, then why dont they have it? She said it takes up to 90 days!! I asked how can it take 90 days to get there...she did not know. Finally got a super on the phone. I asked her "if it takes 90 days to get to NVC then OK...but where is the petition in the meantime?" Sitting on a desk, stacked up in the mailroom, lost!!.. she could not tell...just said it's been approved, give it 90 days. Well, you get the drift...they are clueless at USCIS CS site. BTW CS is not at the VSC.

NVC is so much more in tune with what's going on...calling everynight to check...15 days is tomorrow, i have scanned a copy of I-797 an emailed them. They say they will contact the uscis and VSC if needed to track it down...I hope to God so. Even NVC CS says it should never take over 15 days to get to them from approval date...probably mis-filed or stacked on some slackers desk...

If no word by Friday I'm going to my Congressman's office. They said they would find it...I hope so!

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Except that some cases are selected for "Additional" or "Administrative" Processing (which are the same thing) and can delay the petition being sent on to the consulate.
