Okay, you really need to chill. Freaking out is not going to help AT ALL.

You have 2 options:

1) Risk it and try flying to the USA. Worst case scenario - you are turned away (try pre-clearance thorough Dublin?)

2) Make an appointment at the embassy and see what they say

As you MUST have experienced by now, it is pretty much impossible to get a straight answer about MOST visa issues. Ask 10 people, you will probably get 10 different answers. Noone on VJ - even people with experience - is going to be able to tell you the 100% correct answer.

And also, dont beat yourself up. People have accidents. I could list the amount of things ive ruined, but that would take too long!

Hi Guys, I have a similar problem, only difference is that i aint freaking out and what got damaged was not the visa on the passport, but the big brown envelope handed out to me with the visa. Though it is unopened, the envelope got really wet when my house got flooded. I have emailed the Lagos consulate 3 times and i finally got a number that worked, so i spoke to an officer who said i can simply bring the envelope back to the embassy. Any advice would be welcome.

the best thing is dont let important documents get damaged. put them in safety deposit box until needed. too many ppl are careless with their stuffs. where exactly were your documents in your home that a massive flood damaged it? Under your bed? This is totally unacceptable. Take it back to embassy and they will have to redo your packet. With Lagos being the way they are dont be suprised they make you wait a few months. be careful. Personally I would take my chances and take the envelope with me to the airport rather than going back to the embassy.

hamtaro - you make it through a POE ?

rade2rising - great advice, but (alas) not pertinent for the OP and the year+ on the original posting date.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
