Hello all!

Our interview is coming up June 16th :D so we have been reading the reviews to get an idea about the questions they ask, but mostly everyone only talks about "the experience". I've heard normal things and crazy things like...'what color is her toothbrush?' :wow: seriously!?!? Anyone who has been through interview already have some actual examples of questions they were asked? Are the questions really ones a normal couple would know...cuz, I really don't know my man's toothbrush color. Thanks!

Questions can be very consulate-specific. Therefore, it's crucial that the OP concentrate on the reviews solely for Bogota, si man.

If the reviews focus on the "experience" rather than on the nuts & bolts, the OP should send PMs to the most recent interviewees to learn the specific questions that were asked.

I'll add the personal observation that reviews without the questions that were asked are useless to those who want and need to know such details, and to post such a review is actually a disservice to fellow VJ members, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The OP can read the many, many Colombian threads in the Latin American regional subforum, too, and contact members there for advice.

Daniel and Laura -

I've read all the reviews and it seems to be: Family (who are her family members, who are yours); How many times have you been, what are the dates, what did you do; What is your job, job title, Company; How did you meet.

Those seem to be the heavy hitters so I'd concentrate on those. After that, just make sure you know: favorite books, movies, TV shows, future plans, kids, religion, favorite color, those sort of basics.

And at the end of the day, if they ask a question you don't know, just be honest and say it. I've read that it's far better than lying, getting it wrong, and looking worse off.

May I ask what the wait period was for your interview? I'm wondering if it's a couple weeks or months, I've sadly heard both...

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR INTERVIEW!!! I'm sure you'll do great and it'll go smoothly!! Please let me know what questions they asked you when you're done. Ours should be at the end of July if all goes to plan :innocent:

They also usually ask about all the previous marriages that the petitiner has had, all those children and for sure all those crimes.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Well we sent in our Package 3 forms 4/27 and were assigned the interview for 6/16. But I have a friend on here who sent their forms the exact same day and got an interview for 6/10. So it would appear the interview is assigned a little over a month from when they receive your case.

Gather as much material as you can - photos, transcripts, receipts, etc. You may want to mention that your fiance wanted to come and say why he can't.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread :D so you sent packet 3 without receiving it?

"Arrives at BOG consulate: 4-27-11

Package 3 forms sent: 4-27-11"

Yeah!! Why wait? As soon as you find out they have your case, send the forms! You can download them here http://bogota.usembassy.gov/appt-package.html (Instruction Packet) We got the actual packet 3 in the mail a week later.

The sooner the better...you want to get it in before the 15th of the month if possible to get a sooner interview date.

Know as much about your fiance as possible. Height, weight home address work address, ex-wife's divorce and why if applicable. His family their names. China portal has lots of interview results. Some questions are country specific, but most are basic questions. Good luck prepare, prepare, prepare smile a lot, be polite

and don't act nervous.
