Hi, I just finished filling out the first phase of the K1 visa packet! Yipee. I am also sending my fiance an exact duplicate packet and

a copy of the I-134 which I filled out... I do have a question. He doesn't make as much money as I do, and he doesn't have any assets or savings.

I am a school teacher and have a 401 k plan too but I don't own a house.

What is the minimal income that is needed? Do we still need an additional sponser?

If I am asking these questions about income, will the application be denied because I am not wealthy.

if you're just starting out with the application i would leave the i-134 until closer to the time just incase it takes over 6 months as anything over 6 months is no longer counted as valid :S there is a link on here somewhere in the depths of the poverty line and abosolute minimums, but my gf's support on a minimum wage job was considered to be adequate support

Nearly there, and for those who are just starting the k1 it is a long wait but once it is over the time feels well spent

They don't use the beneficiary's income and assets, just yours. You will send the I-134 and supporting docs for it, like letter from employer, pay stubs and tax transcript after the petition is approved, before he goes for the visa interview. Also, if you meet the 125% requirement, there is no need to list assets, like your retirement or property.

125% of the poverty level for 2 people is $18,387

Your Timeline indicates a K-1 Petition and a 129-F Application. You sent a I-134 Form for no reason. That is later as far as Income Requirements. As far as the beneficiary's income will have no bearing on the Approval. The Petitioners Income is only counted. The Orignil 129-F is for backgrounds checks of the Petitoner/beneficiary.

For a Couple of 2 the Petitioner should have a a minium of $ 18,318.00 if alone going by GROSS Income. I have doubts about that because it might be $18,218.00 Gross Income.

If these requirements are hard to meet then Assets can be used. Well, it's a start.

The correct terminology is that an I-129F PETITION was filed. There is no K1 petition. K1 is a visa category, not a petition. Please don't confuse a visa application with a petition for fiancee. When the petition is approved, the beneficiary will be invited to apply for a visa.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
