I don't think there is such a thing as a temporary printout. Call the 1-800 number and ask if there is a faster way to get your number.

Once you have been processed and are in the system you can have a print out of your information. I asked for this and was given it for reference for the DMV. However,if it's only been a few days you may not be able to do this, I dont know. I was polite and insistent at the SS office and asked to speak to someone else when the first lady said no to my request. I stressed that I was told to come down and get this information and really needed it and couldn't wait for the card.

Good luck.

How long did it take you to get the requested print out? I mean when did you go back to the SSA office? Thanks for your response.

We were told after we applied that if we needed the SSN number we could come back in 3-4 business days and get it. The SSN office will not have the card but they could look the number up. They told us the local office does not issue the new numbers, why it takes several days to get issued a SSN.

We did not need her number quickly like you so we waited for the mailed card (about 8 days).

Ask your SSN office if they will do this. Maybe explain your problem.

Once your SSN has been assigned the office can provide an SSN Verification Printout, but your SSN is not going to be assigned until your immigration status can be verified. Do you know if they did or didn't verify your status while you were in the office? If it wasn't done while you were in the office, you are probably looking at the very least another week. If your aren't lucky, it could be a month or more.

Good news guys. I called directly to our SSA local office, and this nice helpful lady asked me what are my concerns. So i told her that if theres any faster way to get my SSN coz i need it for my job this week, then she asked me my full name. After a couple of mins she said that i applied for the first time and it usually takes 3-4 days for the SS number to be assigned to the applicant and receive the actual card within 2 weeks.. She wants me to come back to the office this wednesday or thursday! Finally i got the answer that ive been waiting for.. :)

What answer was that? If you have been assigned an SSN, there would be no reason to wait until later in the week to come into the SSA office. Unless they actually said your status has been verified and your application has been cleared to assigned you an SSN, I wouldn't get your hopes up about going into the SSA office later this week.
