Aftershock - pretty good movie, although it dragged a little in the middle but I was crying by the end..

Winnebago Man - a pretty good documentary. It follows the Internet phenomenon created by a series of twenty-year-old outtakes from a Winnebago sales video featuring profane outbursts from the salesperson, Jack Rebney.

Lady in the Water

I am a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan, but I have to say this is my least favorite by far (this is the second time I've seen it). For a movie to "work", I think that the movie needs to meet one or more of a number of requirements I have for a movie I'm about to watch.

One thing that I think is important is that what happens in the movie has to make sense within its own universe. Let me explain. Take The X-files, for example is something my wife and I have discussed a number of times. If you cannot accept the fact that in the X-files universe there are aliens and the giant conspiracy, etc, you probably won't like the series (this is something my wife could never get past, hence she does not care for it). If you cannot accept that there are trolls and elves and walking, talking trees in Tolkien's work, The Lord of the Rings is not for you. If can't swallow Superman's ability to fly, well, you see where I'm going with this. You don't have to believe in aliens and trolls and flying men from other planets... but you have to (be able to) accept that in the universe of this particular movie you are about to watch, those things do exist. If you can't, well, those are probably deal-breaking features you won't be able to look past.

The funny thing is this is not what I don't like about Lady in the Water. The mythology of the movie is not what bugs me. What bugs me, why I don't like the movie, is because the characters so easily buy into the mythology. The old Asian only reluctantly tells the main character about the old bedtime story, and before you know it, a ton of people go from never having heard of narfs and scrunts to being totally on board. That's at least one major reason why I did not like the movie. Which is too bad cause I do think it has some of the typical M. Night Shyamalan atmosphere. Even The Happening was worlds better than this, IMO.

God Bless America..2011 movie directed by, yes, Bobcat Goldthwait... starring Joel Murray and Tarra Lynne Barr....somewhere between natural born killers and falling down with Michael Douglas...

Love Aniston and Rudd but it was a little bit too off-kilter for my taste.

Usual over-the-top Bollywood action flick.

I saw this one last week. I really liked it, but the first part of plot seemed slow.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
