I feel ur pain, it took me 10 months to get a job even tho I live in a city. I searched everyday for a job through Careerbuilder.com and a few other websites, I applied every jobs that I was qualified for but there was no word, no nothing from them. I cried, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, felt worthless, felt lonely, and felt like why I am here in the U.S. cuz it would be much better if i was in my home country. A lot of depression before I got a job I would say.

Eventually I got a job, it is a "OK" job, not that reat but I am happy with it.

Just hang in here, be patient, keep ur head high and keep looking for a job....one day you will get one.

Good luck to all of you.

I wish you the very best!

I can so relate with this dilemma, I'd been here in Saint Louis, Missouri for 7 months and until now am job hunting! I created profile at CAREERBUILDER, MONSTER, SNAGAJOB, KELLY SERVICES...name it! I was interviewed once from MACY'S for a RETAIL ASSOCIATE position only to get an email to say that am OVERQUALIFIED for the position...=( I had more than 2 years experience in Retail Management and 3 years in Restaurant Management back in the Philippines. It seems, they don't acknowledged the JOB EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND we have from our country...

But I choose to remain positive and keep on looking, even most of the offers were from INSURANCE company...am thinking of doing a volunteer job for the meantime until the right time and right job comes...

I hope and pray each one of us in search of the job we wanted, may find one. Sooner or later.

God bless us all.=)

Took 5 months for me to find my job right now. I was very despirate to get a job before that even if it's 45 minutes away from our home I still applied to it. I wasn't driving yet at that time, so I got mad at my husband everytime he refused to take me for an interview coz he thought it's too far from me. I keep telling him "I need a job ! I need a job ! I need a job ! "lol. He also just keep tellin' me to be patient and soon I will find a job that is really meant for me... and it happened, I got an e-mail from Marriott to come over for my interview.. and I got the job fulltime :) .

I know it's very hard to find a job right now specially with the economy right now, that's why I'm keeping my job even I'm already start having a hard time at work sometimes due to my pregnancy. Hubby giving me few more weeks to stop working lol, but it's too early for me to file for maternity leave. Thank god my manager is kinda nice to me and just let me work 3 days a week now until I file my maternity leave, and hubby is ok with that.

Just a little bit more patient, you all find the right place for you :) .

Oppsss;;; Didn't know I already posted in this thread :bonk::rofl: . But anyway.... yeah more patience :).

Btw, Lots of hotels everywhere... Try Hilton, Hyatt or Four Seasons just keep looking . Good luck and hope you'll find one soon :) .

oh wow!! im happy now coz i thought im the only one experiencing this boredom...lol

ive been searching online for a job...im getting frustrated but what can i do?...i guess its not yet time to WORK...lol

i'm getting tired doing nothing...wake up early ...clean the backyard..do nothing but to go online and search for job openings...

for us guys...welcome to the club of jobless...hahahhahaha

We should create a club... a Jobless Club... i am in my 1st week of looking for a job since i got my EAD last week... I am not that bored though, i am picking up on my husband's stamps collecting and been sorting out all stamps that he has on boxes that isn't been put up in the stamps books... i just spent a week for Indonesia stamps...

but i am counting on earning my own money and having my own savings, I was always working back home and earning my own and providing for my family... so this feeling of not being able to be monetary productive is very new to me and making me crazy... i did sign up with a lot of jobsites online but after a week, the opening is not that many and i think might have applied in one job more than once, i cannot even keep track,... i haven't been contacted yet except one who asked me to fax my resume instead of sending it by email to them... i think i will have to think seriously on part time work and volunteering... just to feel that self worth again...

Goodluck to all of us!!!

It's nice to know that i am not alone, but it is also depressing to know that there are so many jobless

HI all!

I just wanted to add my 2cents to the conversation and encourage anyone to volunteer before you can work and while you look for work. It keeps you busy and helps you get a job!

I volunteered full time when I arrived here on a K1 until I got my greencard and so when it came to job searching I had references who were in the US. That was a major factor in my getting the job because the man who interviewed me knew the person who gave me a nice letter of recommendation.

I have found it very easy to gain volunteer experience here in the States. Plus I made friends while doing it :)

Good luck everyone!!

Helen

It's already been a couple of months since I became eligible to work and getting a job has been pretty elusive until now. I know it took some people here longer but I am getting stressed with the fact that I am unemployed (plus the fact that I am bored!) and my husband asking me everyday if I already have a job doesn't help either. I live in a small county 70 miles off the City where job opportunities are pretty scarce so I am doing part-time remote admin assistance. This does not pay much but at least I have something to do on the computer other than reading the news.

Anyway I tried applying everywhere, finance where I have 14 yrs experience, clerical and retail but no success yet. Going personally to offices with your resume at hand does not work anymore since they will just refer you apply through their websites. Staffing agencies such as Kelly Services and Manpower don't have openings either.

I know I should be more patient, I guess I only wanted to vent. I just want a job that takes me out of the house and be with other people. :)

My guess is that you could get a job tomorrow volunteering for an organization using your skills which would increase your opportunity in the future, give you business contacts and real experience you in the USA you can put on your resume. Check local charity organizations

My wife volunteered for a local hospital and for an organization teaching English (as part of her masters degree practicum) and now does many PAID translations for the hospital every week and is being considered as the Program Coordinator for the organization that has the ESL programs she taught.

AND it gets you out of the house.

And tell your husband to HELP you and stop nagging like a girl.

VERMONT! I Reject Your Reality...and Substitute My Own!

Just to drop some optimism in the topic, I got a job offer today! Been applying relentlessly for the 6 weeks I have been in the US. Got this offer at the 4th interview I went for. It sure is a market out here but keep your hopes up!
