Congratulations.....

You have a good amount of time to get ready so dont panic.....

Read your interview letter it has a long list of the things you can take get as many of them as you can....

Take your time and organize everything into sections.... I put everything into plastic wallets inside a binder so it was easy to find during the interview...

Make sure you have photo copies of everything so you dont have to give the interviewing officer the originals...

Good Luck

Kezzie

Congratulations! The interview letter has a list of all you need.

Passport for both of you, birth certificates for both, three years worth taxes (or whatever you can provide), I-693 medical supplement, letter of employment, paystubs, joint bank statements, any insurance or credit card statements you may have, junkmail, christmas and wedding cards addressed to both, any joint magazine subscriptions, as many photos as possible and stuff like that. If you have a sponsor, bring an I-864 for both your sponsor (the petitioner) as well as your cosponsor.

Good luck!!

Good luck!!

How impartant are tons of bills, etc addressed to both of us? All we have is joint checking, 2005 taxes, insurance(medical and vechicle) and lease agreement. All junk mail comes in his name, no credit cards, all christmas cards were addressed to either him or I, none joint. Small wedding, no invitations were sent we had 10 people attend including him, my daughter and I. No cards. We have pictures..OMGosh we have tons and tons of pictures. We have goofy pics, family outings pics, wedding pics, kissy pics, christmas pics, s*x pics (not that we'll take those to Atlanta)

Compared to the lists I've seen other take, we have hardly anything to show that we live, sleep, eat, talk, as a couple.

Also my husband mixes up mine and my daughter's birthday..they are close together. I'm worried they want details and dates at the interview. He says "I'll never forget it, even though I don't remember it..you girls wont let me forget it". Hell, He can't even remember the date his mother and father died. He's just bad at remembering dates.

If it's a number off a powerline, a date a hurricane hit or anything to do with his job, he can tell u quicker then you can snap your fingers. Only reason he remembers the day we got married was it was the day before Hurricane Katrina hit. :ranting:

Confessing why I am nervous and panic'd isn't helping this knot in my tummy!!

I think what gives you a good indication of being husband and wife should be okay. If you have lots of pictures, bring lots of pictures. Try to have at least one bill or account in your name, together. I'm in the same boat as you -- I couldn't qualify for a whole ton of things, we don't own our place and we both abhor credit cards and the like.

So look to what you do have. Family abroad? Why not ask them to send you a postcard/Easter card/St. Patrick's Day card/We miss you! card? Get a few to mail them to you both and you should be fine.

Is your daughter in school? Is there anything from there that you could use, like both of you signing a permission form to let her go on vacation or he's listed as an emergency contact?

Do you belong to AAA or any other clubs? For example, our library cards are funnily enough, a "family" card or joint. There's also our park district; to sign up to take classes, they need to know who your "family" is and all members. That may count.

Trips/vacations are very good, too. Do you have tickets to the same place (train, plane) and car rentals? Put together some paperwork with the same material. If you have to, take a weekend together and go to a hotel? :) It might work in a pinch? ;)

If you have pets, veterinary information often requires both people.

In a pinch, you could have family/friends write up letters of "support"/"proof" (make sure they're notarized?) to confirm they know you?

There's a lot of great info in here tamz! Just take a deep breath and relax! :)

FYI: We weren't asked to list off each other's birthdays or anniversary date at our interview, and we only had one bill in both of our names -- the adjudicator immediately took it to put in our file.

A selection of your pictures at different times of the year is great -- not a ton of them, but enough to show you with each other, with your daughter, with other family & friends. Our adjudicator took more time in looking through those than he did our wedding photos.

Do you have wills, or life insurance that lists each other as beneficiaries? those are good.

One of the things I did to prepare was to find other people who went through my district office and read their experiences, and made a list of questions they were asked, and documents that were asked to see. it helped me a lot to compare experiences, and see what I needed to gather. It also helped to see patterns in my district office's procedures. if you can find any information like that, it's great.

Many many best wishes to you both! You are going to be fine!
