Don't know if anyone still reads this, but Matthew and I just welcomed our first child into the world on March 20th!! The first day of spring! She's our little sunshine We named her Emma Darling Bonner. Looks like her daddy!

Congradulations, Great News! Thanks for posting. Yea it seems like a lot of the Decemberites have gotten on with their lives and rarely check here. I stop by once a week or so, just to see great news like you posted! Thanks. I will never forget how much time we all spent on the site each day waiting for that crazy K-1 visa, what an experience.

Hi guys!! Hay is anybody filing to lift conditions of the two year green card yet? We have about 6 months before we start that process but I know some decemberites got their 2 year GC long before us. Just curious how it's going for folks??? Hope everyone is doing well..

Hi all,

Just checking in, seeing how things are going for everyone. I am still amazed at how long it took to get used to being here. I am not at all convinced I am totally used to it. For the first year my poor husband heard "I wanna go back to Canada", with him of course, probably every other week or so. My adjustment to life in the USA has/had nothing to do with my husband, I know he loves me and I love him. It is simply just very different here. I may of said it 3 more times this past year, but I try hard not to say it cause I now know that it makes him sad. The good news is that I am finally working in a job in my field and I really like it a lot. Like some others I have been thinking of the ROC task. I know that I can file in March. I need to read more about it, for example, is travel outside of the USA restricted at that time? I also think it is kinda of annoying that we first pay a fee for ROC and a year later we are eligible to naturalize, yet another fee! Any thoughts on naturalization or is everyone just concentrating on one step at a time? Will we create a thread on the ROC forum to support each other through this next step?

Thank you for the update. Great to hear from you. It's very important for someone moving to the USA to know that life is different here, not better, just different. My wife absolutely loves it here, she has a job, she drives, has her own friends, she is doing great. Me I would rather live in the Philippines! hahahaha Although, as long as I am with my wife, I don't really care where we live..

Congrats to all the decemberite babies!!!! My husband had a similar experience adjusting. It's hard being away from your entire support system from back home. Working, driving, and friends have helped. I think what helped him the most was by older brother coming home from deployment in Afghanistan. They hit it off pretty well. Also he visited family earlier this month (without me) I wanted him to just enjoy being home with just the family. ROC has been on our minds it is creeping upon us and we've been talking about what kind of proof to include. I'd be happy to continue a Decemberite ROC support thread for anyone else looking to start the ROC process. What do you guys think? Any takers?

Like Carmene, I too would be happy to continue a Decemberite ROC support thread. I can file between March and June 2014. I am sure some of us will be filing within the next few months. I will be squeezing up to 3 trips into Canada before I am not able to leave the country again for 6 months or so. Restrictions restrictions lol.

Me again,

Was doing some reading in the ROC threads. It seems travel outside the USA during ROC is permitted, you use the NOA letter (original copy) and expired conditional green card. This combination of documents gives you a 1 year extension. The caution people give is to be mindful that you may get an RFE or a scheduled interview while you are away. For peace of mind I will not venture far or not venture away at all. I have a 2 week vacation planned to visit my daughter in Alberta before I file. Other than that I go for 2-3 days to Thunder Bay which is only 5hrs away. During ROC is won't be a problem staying put and limiting traveling if a family emergency arises. I feel better now I am now making a list of documents to gather, making sure to cover the length of my marriage. That should keep me busy for awhile

Hi guys

Glad to be back. We are planning our packet for ROC. I think for us we will be filing between Dec and Feb. Looks like it will just be the 3 of us for now.

I was looking over the ROC guide for more info. My husband said that we should we receive a letter notifying us when to file (a friend told him this). But I haven't seen or heard anything about that. Has anyone heard of letters being sent out?

Hey guys. Good to be getting the gang back together. We are sending off our ROC mid-December. I havent heard of anyone getting a letter so far but will keep eyes and ears open. I am already gathering documents. Be glad when I wont have to file any more forms lol
