Lise - I've been adjusting pretty well, although same as you I really miss my family. With all the wedding planning and immigration stuff, every now and then I find myself just needing my mommy! :( Otherwise it's been really great finally being here with Blake and our friends and moving forward in our lives in a new and exciting (and scary!) way. Good luck with your hopeful travels, I'm sure it'll work out and you'll get there!

mochamich - Yeah the RFE sucks but at least its something happening, haha. And now we know we're on the right track otherwise though right? Always trying to look on the bright side!

gyselle - congratulations!!

We received a strange wonderful surprise yesterday, it was the EAD card. We are happy but I am surprised, because last Monday was our bio metrical, I though the EAD would be 2 or 3 weeks down the road? Also there was no text or email about approval or "card in production" it just arrived in the mail box unannounced, weird!

So today we will attempt to talk the Oregon DMV into issuing Jen a drivers permit. On our last visit to DMV they pointed out that her I-94 would expire so they refused to issue the permit. After putting on my "angry eyes" and explaining to the DMV employee (and her supervisor) :bonk: why they were obligated to issue the permit for at least the duration of the I-94 they at last gave Jen a hand written 90 day temporary. I suspect they will again be asses and we will have to wait for the green card to arrive. I will of course pack my "angry eyes" and report back how it goes... How has your guys DMV experience been?

Congratulations on your EAD!

We had our biometrics done yesterday, perhaps we'll get a surprise next week, but I'm not holding my breath B-)

We didn't have any problems whatsoever at the DMV in Ohio. Permit was issued once he passed the test. We just needed our NOA from the AOS and the passport as proof. I think his permit is good for one year.

The driving, on the other hand, is only going so-so. It turns out that I freak out a lot when I feel my car is in danger  Oh well, I guess this is one more chance to improve our communication skills - I'll try not to yell if he'll try to maintain his lane and slow down when I tell him too! I went ahead and sprung for the driving lessons and his second one is tonight. He had a lot of improvement after the first one. I'd rather he try anything new like highways and maintaining his speed through turns with the instructor's car since the instructor has his own brake pedal

I sure hope he becomes good enough for his license and my trust by the time he gets his EAD...I can't take off work to drive him to interviews!

Congrats on the EADs and GCs!!!

Bec - i totally get that. I freak out anytime my hubby drives too slow or too close to the left side of the road!! communication breakdown, or what? Interesting about the 1-year license. That's what my hubby got. What's that about? Why only 1 year?

Hi Dizzy! Is it because your hubby's EAD is good for 1 year? Speaking of which, does that mean we have to renew the EAD next year or does the Green Card serve as an EAD as well? I was hoping after the Green card we would have a 2 year break from the USCIS...
