My bouncy dance continues - changed back from Card/Document Production to Post-Decision Activity this morning.

At least it says "On December 9, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. ", so I know for sure that I haven't been denied laughing.gif

Presumably, I'll be back to Card/Document Production at some point, for the third time smile.gif

Hey guys! First and foremost, huge congrats to the Dizzy Family!!!<3

Things have been pretty hectic for us here! We had a lovely thanksgiving and Reilly's family have all been so warm and amazing to me, I am truly blessed to have 2 amazing families. I get days where I am so homesick I will just fall into myself, presently my husband is working 3 jobs to keep us afloat, so I'm to my own devices for a lot of the days and evenings. The upside is for the first time ever I am discovering I am a pretty awesome cook (with the time I've had to occupy myself it's been a blessing to find something I like to throw myself into!) and am getting quite reknown for this with my husbands work friends! Although the cabin fever can get to me as I can't really go anywhere without someone to drive me. That said - I did get a learner's permit soon after I came, and have had a fun time learning how to drive, though today at the DMV I went in to get them to extend the expiration (the same date as on my I-94, I was told I just needed my I-797 for the I-485 and they can extend it a year) only to have a bit of an arguement with the receptionist who said otherwise. If anything though it makes me feel more American to moan about the DMV on the ride home!

Biometrics was a breeze - we got to the Alexandria branch in VA half an hour early and I got whisked to the fingerprinting & photo booth straight away - in and out in under 10 minutes!

We were hoping for a nice calm first christmas together in our new home, but hubby got a job offer for a Linux position he's been studying for all year so on Christmas eve of all days we are driving our little Toyota with all our worldly goods in it down 5 hours south to Virginia Beach! We're very excited, not only does this equal job satisfaction for Rei and an exciting adventure for us but we'll get so much more time together! Best Christmas present we could recieve :)

Having our family Christmas portrait tomorrow with his parents and brother, very blessed to have the love and support of them.

I wish you all happy holidays! My fellow 'aliens', make sure to throw in a few native dishes at dinner time and everyone make sure to start some fun family traditions!

xxxx

Happy to hear your AP hell has an end in sight! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

My happy news is that my EAD arrived today, I can legally work in the USA!! Not sure how comfortable I am with traveling yet though...the AP does not sound great to me, unless an emergency comes up I think I will stay put until I have 2 year greencard in hand.

Have a great day everyone!

...the AP does not sound great to me, unless an emergency comes up I think I will stay put until I have 2 year greencard in hand.

Great idea Lise,

My wife read a troublesome story last week at her Chinese web forum about a lady stuck in Beijing because the Chinese immigration office at the airport did not recognize the new EAD/AP combo card and refused to let her board her flight to the US on a Friday.

The poor lady went to the US embassy in Beijing on Monday for help but couldn't get any. She went back to the airport the next day and found a man in the same situation. The man later learned from a friend that Shanghai airport was ok, so they spent extra time and money to travel to Shanghai for a new connecting flight. She lost about a week in China due to the weekend while looking for help. Her husband faxed her the EAD/AP instructions so she could show it to the Beijing airport immigration office but to no avail. I guess the information/order about the new combo card hasn't trickled down to the boarder guards in some parts of the world yet.

Things we take for granted ...

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Congratulations everyone on the EADs and even LPR statuses! I received my biometrics appointment letter in the mail on wednesday, it's January 6th :) Still waiting on an RFE for our lack of marriage certificate inclusion, haha.

Hope you get it resolved soon :)

No your not alone. Paperwork is 80% complete the whole Physical/vaccine thing is holding us back a bit. I don't get why we need to have a physical done again if the medical was completed already. If you go to the USCIS website and type in your zip code they will list all the Local civil surgeons in your area.

Good Luck :)

Carefully look at some AOS threads about medicals. If you have a copy of the vaccines signed from your medical, a receipt of the medical as proof you do not need to go to a civil surgeon. When sending in your AOS you do not send in the I-693 if you have those documents. The other important thing is the medical needs to have been completed within a year of your AOS application.

However, some people do need to have the vaccine page transcribed or require additional vaccines. I sent the completed vaccine form and also sent in the I693 only to receive a RFE. I resent my evidence without the I693 and got my work authorization a few weeks later.

Good Luck,

Lise

Ahh Lisa + Michael, I saw some of the post, but I also saw some posts (as well as what is recommended by visa journey) where they said that you still need to go to a civil surgeon to certify (to fill the form), and they will check your vaccine forms and fill up the form. however, if you have had the medical within the last one year, you DO NOT need a medical examination.

So, you will still need a civil surgeon to certify, the only difference, is the medical check up.

I'm paying it safe and getting it certified anyway even though i have all the vaccines done.

Thanks anyway! i hope it will be easy!
