hello fellow VJ members..i know were getting close to NOA2 and im getting excited and nervous as well...

i have fear that we didn't reach the expectations regarding K1 proof of relationship.. my boyfriend came last october and he spent only 9 days here with me ,he met my family but don't get a chance to meet my extended family... when he get back to US he filed petition for K1 and K2 for my son. my biggest fear is,we're not engage like he proposed or gives ring or having engagement party.. i wanted him to come back and stay few days again but he said it cost him a lot...well i understand that..but it seems like ive never known him so much (i just knew him all through chats, sharing stories and getting to know each other for months but being with each other is different than talking online),,i love him and he loves me too.. he cares a lot to me and my son.. and yes our relationship are genuine but my question is,9 days with me are enough proof?well we have chats, skype and mails for more evidence..but meeting in person are just 9 days...this scares me so much...

any responds are appreciated..thank you

You should be fine but for the K1/K2 you must be engaged. that doesn't mean a big party or ring or any of the just that one has asked and the other has agreed to get married.

I trust you've remained in contact since his return to the US? Bring proof of that on-going relationship since the in person meeting.

When I sent the petition for the K1, I visited my then girlfriend for 1 week. We got engaged that week. Not an issue. I went back to visit her in the middle of the process but I doubt that was necessary for her approval. I went to visit her because I was missing her. (L)

I would say you and your relationship time is in the majority.

Seems like the majority of people meet someone on a online dating site like Cherryblossom, Craigslist, etc and chat for a little while, the guy makes a 2 week trip Philippines and meets his future wife for a few day and flies back to USA and sends in paperwork...

You will be fine. It is only stated that you must have met in person in the last 2 years and show proof of that meeting. Airline tickets/itineraries, hotel receipts, credit card receipts, passport stamp photocopies and photos of the two of you together. There is no time limit requirement that says you need to have been together a specific number of days. If you have those and proof of the ongoing relationship from the time you met until you file(d) for the K1, you will be fine. We used samples of emails, cards/letters snail-mailed, sample chat logs from yahoo, cellphone text records, history of cellphone loads I sent to her from an online site, copies of western union money transfers, and gift receipts. For the samples, try to use some from very early on, current and fill in a few in the middle. Don't send 2 kilos of chat logs and emails as i heard they don't like that either.

Best of luck to you both!

U should be fine. No big deal at all..you have 90 days to come up with a decision of getting married if you are doubtful after arrival in the US.

I'd like to say that's true and of course a possibility although as it has been mentioned before in many other threads; If there's still doubt then wait with filing the petition and let the relationship blossom a bit before jumping the gun. Even though an engagement isn't a binding contract there's no point of going through a process and proposed to somebody when not sure about wanting to marry that person.

But to answer the question; 9 days within the past two years meet the requirements as long as you live up to the rest of them and what's to come later on. Good luck on your journey :)

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days
