How does the AOS process actually works?

I've been looking at the timelines of a lot of people, and I fail to understand that a lot of them are getting their EAD's way before me when I've filed weeks before them.

I thought ALL the EAD's are issued by the same state (Whichever one that is), and then they send your file to your local office (NY in my case) for them to schedule an interview for you

Am I missing something?

Thanks

All EADs are processed at NBC in Missouri - that's true. However, some EAD approvals may have been approved expedites. Have you done biometrics yet? That has to be done as well before it can be issued (in most cases - though I have seen some approved without biometrics when the local fingerprint office has delays of 4 months or more). Otherwise, luck of the draw? The person who has your file is slower than someone else? Good luck

Also, :time:
