So do I just need a police CPIC/NCIC crim check or do I actually need fingerprints? And if I do - I get them at the station and send them in with my package or do I get the police to send them off to be run - if that's the case it can take up to 5 months! Tell me this isnt so...

Fingerprints are usually done at the consulate...click on portals at the top of this page to see what goes on at your consulate--if they don't say directly, just read some of the reviews and I'll bet they talk about getting finger printed.

If you have no criminal record you do not need a fingerprint check, the CPIC/NCIC check is sufficient. They will take your fingerprints in Montreal at the interview and then again at your POE.
