Okay, my fiance has her interview in Moscow for a k-1 on May 20th, unfortunately I neglected to realize how complicated this evidence of support actually is, so I stupidly waited until the last minute and am now scrambling to get it done! I sent an email to the embassy today for clarification, but God only knows when I'll get a reply, so I decided to post the email on here and see if you guys had any advice! This site has helped us tremendously throughout this entire process and I thank everybody in advance for anything you can help with!

Here is the email I sent them:

Hello,

My Fiance will is currently scheduled for an interview at the embassy on May 20th. I am in the process of gathering and sending the required information she will need to provide as Evidence of Support, and would like to have a few items clarified.

I will provide copies of these documents:

1.) My Approval of Educational Benefits letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs stating that I receive $1407.00 per month while enrolled at the university, which is 12 months of the year, totaling $16,884.00 per year.

2.) A letter from my employer on company letterhead- stating that as of January 2011 I am a full-time Bartender at the South Portland, Maine VFW Post and consistently earn between $300 and $400 per week in tips. Totaling $15600 to $20,800 per year.

Will this evidence of support be sufficient? Should I include an I-134 Affidavit of Support?

I am able to include a copy of my most recent years tax return, however, the Education Benefits (Post 9/11 GI Bill) I receive from the Veterans Affairs is non-taxable and does not appear on a tax return.

If the above evidence is not sufficient, what evidence should I include?

If a co-sponsor is needed, does that person need to submit a copy of his most recent tax return, or are the documents listed on the I-134 instructions sufficient? ( letter from bank as well as letter from employer).

Lastly, if I do need to include an I-134, must it be an original? or will a scanned copy be okay? My concern is the time constraint of getting originals to Russia in time for the interview.

Thank You very much for a speedy reply! hope to hear back soon!!

Sincerely,

Sincerely,

I think letter is sufficient. You still need the following:

1) Original I134. I recommend courier. I used FedEx before and it took 1 week. So you have enough time.

2) Tax Return. Even if it does not show the income you still need to send it. Scanned copy is sufficient.

3) Scanned copy of W2 or 1099 is sufficient.

I only can tell you what I submitted:

1) I-134 original

2) Original W2 from 2010

3) Scanned copy of tax return for 2010

4) Original pay-stubs for last 2 months which also show my year-to-date earnings

5) Original bank statements for last 2 months

6) Letter from the employer stating full time employment, dates of employment, salary, and employment prospects.

However, I think it was over-kill.

Good luck!
