My fiance is from Cebu, Philippines. I am trying to get some of our comments on Facebook translated just because I don't want to be left in the dark. I also would like to learn myself. :P Does anyone know a good translator or even what language I should translating to English?

There's a friendly search engine on the web called, Google.

You may want to try that one...

Why don't you simply ask your fiancée to assist you? Tell her you'd love to learn a bit. It's definitly a bonding experience. Personally, I love when my fiancé speaks Afrikaans. He gets the memories, but I love knowing that portion of his life. And though I don't speak it - when he says certain things now, I understand.

Also, no need to call him a stalker. I just got done reading a thread where a bunch of individuals ganged up on a guy who didn't speak English properly and accused him of wanting a GC (which, could possibly be the case, we'll never know). Maybe he is preventing a future like this. What if some of the comments are a bit shady (on FB) and THAT is truly why he wants to learn the language - to prevent any future drama/heartbreak. Give him some advice wanted - I'm not judging him for wanting to know.

Anyway, I used to use... freetranslation(dot)com - when I wasn't quite sure of Spanish class in high school. Not sure they'll have the language you need (as I don't know that answer) - but they do have a good variety of languages to pick from.

Thank you. The real reason is because now that our engagement is more out in the open a lot of her friends are requesting me on Facebook. Now they are commenting on my pictures in their language so I have no idea what any of them say. I would also like to learn just so I know and can speak some myself. If I ever travel to Philippines I'm sure not all of her family will speak English or speak as well as I do or even my fiance.

Her sister just told me it is Bisaya.

Also my fiance is trying to teach me some but her time is so limited sometimes if I had a translator I could learn more on my own.

Also saves me the trouble of having her or her sister to translate 50 messages.

Absolutely understandable. And you're welcome. I'm unsure if the site I gave will have that as an option - but I'm sure if you google 'translating Bisaya' you're bound to come up with something somewhere that might help. Even give you a crappy translation - something's better than nothing. Good luck with learning it. :-)
